Destiny 2 developer, Bungie has announced a showcase for Destiny 2 in August. Bungie will disclose its plans for the game during the product showcase.

Bungie's official statement did not provide details about the live stream. However, the developer has already been very open about the plans for Destiny 2 in the next few years. We can expect that the upcoming showcase will see Bungie showing its previously promised Lightfall expansion. The developer has not revealed much details about the expansion either.

Announcing the news, Bungie teased a video captioned  “Witness what's next,” the video highlights significant events from the Light and Darkness tale. Even though it alternates between images of the places and people that shaped Destiny 2‘s recent history, the video doesn't reveal anything new.

The showcase will take place on August 23. The game’s season 18 launches on the same day. The day falls quite close to last year's showcase, which took place just before Season of the Lost was released, and The Witch Queen campaign was formally unveiled.

The developer first announced Lightfall in June 2020. We can expect the expansion to launch in 2023. The expansion falls between The Witch Queen from this year and the game's last expansion The Final Shape. The Final Shape will conclude the Light and Darkness Saga in Destiny, according to a recent confirmation from Bungie.

Lightfall is the third installment of the Light and Darkness narrative from Destiny 2. Bungie had set Lightfall as the final expansion but has since added The Final Shape to its expansion schedule. The current Destiny 2 saga will end with The Final Shape expansion. However, Bungie is dedicated to supporting the title in the future.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
