Modern Warfare 3 is this year's highly-anticipated Call of Duty entry. The game hopes to bring not only new fans but fans of older Call of Duty titles as well. It hopes to do this in a number of ways. Recently, at Call of Duty NEXT, players got their first glimpses of the game's multiplayer and surrounding content. There were many things discussed at this event, so to consolidate everything that was announced, here are our picks for the 5 Best Modern Warfare 3 Announcements.

5. Call of Duty Warzone

Starting off today's list of the best Modern Warfare 3 announcements with a bang, here we have the Call of Duty Warzone announcements. One of the most important announcements surrounding this mode is the inclusion of a new map, Urzikstan. This map features several points of interest for players to fight over, which is great. This serves not only to flavor the map as a whole but give players familiar locations to look out for. Naturally, these areas are going to be highly contested within the game, so it'll be interesting to see these POIs at play.

Additionally, the game mode also sees many of the improvements and changes from the base game. Most important of these are changes to the movement mechanics. This will introduce a new learning curve for veteran players and also new players. Coupled with this is an increase in players' health across the board, going from a value of a hundred to a hundred-fifty. This is done in hopes of giving players more time to react. In short, Call of Duty Warzone had many great announcements at Call of Duty NEXT.

4. The Return of Core Mechanics

Staying somewhat in the same vein for our next entry. One of the most well-received announcements from Call of Duty NEXT was the announcements around the game's core mechanics. Call of Duty is a franchise that has stood the test of time. With such a legacy, there is naturally going to be a faithful group of players who wish game design would harken back to the past of the franchise. In addressing this, Call of Duty NEXT showcased the return of many core mechanics that the franchise has changed over the years.

These changes include things like changes to movement, gunplay, and much more. Another one of the most vital changes is the minimap being changed back to its classic iteration. This essentially means that when players fire an unsuppressed weapon, they will appear on the minimap. This not only makes players have to be more cautious when they fire but also gives the player more situational awareness. All around, the return of these mechanics is one of the best announcements from the Call of Duty NEXT event.

3. Importing Classic Maps

Sticking with the theme, here we will cover what to some, is the main selling point of Modern Warfare 3. The importing of sixteen classic maps from Modern Warfare 2 (2009) is one of the most exciting inclusions surrounding the game. This is in no small part due to the fond memories that players from the past have developed with these maps. Additionally, the core design philosophies behind these maps are also different from a fundamental perspective. The inclusion of these maps is a huge victory for a subsection of the Call of Duty community that misses these maps.

Additionally, visually, the maps have been somewhat overhauled. Allowing for more objects and screens and the like. Additionally, it was revealed that there will be sixteen maps launched following the game's launch. This is great for players who wish to have more variety within their map choice. Added to this is the inclusion of new game modes for these maps. Which could serve to breathe new life into the maps. To close, the importing of classic maps from the franchise is one of the best announcements from Call of Duty NEXT.

2. Multiplayer Reveals & Information

Next on our list of the best announcements from Call of Duty NEXT. We will cover the multiplayer reveals and information. Perhaps the most pivotal change to the multiplayer is the increase of the player's health from a base of one hundred to one hundred and fifty. This hopefully will serve to extend firefights and give players more of a fighting chance when under fire. Additionally, the game will see the long-awaited return of map voting. This is a sorely missed feature by many in the community, so it's great to see that the developers listened in this regard.

Perhaps even more important than that however, is the reversion of the minimap system. This sees the system returning to its earlier iteration. This is a welcome change for many in the community who enjoy the situational awareness dots on the minimap gives the player. Added to this, is the inclusion of the Dead Silence perk as a perk. Having this as a perk instead of a piece of equipment that needs to be deployed is great. This will make it easier for players to move around the map.

1. Brand New Game Modes & Zombies

For our final entry on our list of the best announcements of Call of Duty NEXT, we have several things to cover. There have been new game modes announced, which allow for a varied gameplay experience. The first of these inclusions is the Cutthroat game mode, which essentially acts as a 3v3v3 mode similar to the Gunfight game mode in previous games. This mode's inclusion will hopefully give players multiple avenues of enjoyment. Coupled with this is the reviving of the War game mode.

For those who aren't aware the War game mode was a mode more akin to Payload game modes in MOBA titles. And perhaps the most-anticipated announcement from this group was the announcement of the open-world Zombies mode. This comes coupled with an open-world approach to design, making it the Modern Warfare series's first outing with Zombies. In conclusion, this announcement was one of the more well-received and best announcements from Call of Duty NEXT.
