Best PC Games of 2022

Elden Ring is an absolutely massive game. Everything about this title has gone on to influence the gaming industry around it. And how it has influenced the games that are being made. The game features incredibly solid RPG mechanics and an unforgiving combat system. Both of these elements combine to make an unforgettable experience. In fact, these features have led the game to be immensely popular among players. That being said, here are our picks for the Best Games Like Elden Ring in 2023.

5. Furi

We begin by starting our list off with an entry that might have potentially flown under the player's radar. Furi is an incredibly stylized action RPG that combines shoot-em-up mechanics with brutal difficulty. This proves to be a winning formula as the game entices you to get further into the game as you go. Along the way, you will fight various types of enemies that will require you to switch up your strategy from time to time.

One aspect of the game that makes it so challenging, and yet reading, is its approach to combat. Firstly, the combat is both fast-paced and deliberate and manages to strike a delicate balance between the two. Secondly, the aesthetic of the game manages to blend together cyberpunk elements with a colorful palette, making the game stand out. Lastly, the way that the game weaves its story without revealing all of the information too soon entices the player to play further. All in all, Furi is one of the best games like Elden Ring you can play in 2023.

4. Horizon Forbidden West

Horizon Forbidden West may, to some players, not appear as challenging as other entries on this list. However, this is far from the truth. If players were to play on the game's harder difficulties, this game would be quite tough. Players will have to be adept hunters in order to survive in the game, as Aloy's health pool dwindles at higher difficulties. This means that you will have to be exceedingly careful not to perish in the middle of battle. This can be challenging as you are often facing multiple opponents at once.

That is to say, nothing of the game's boss monsters either, each of which brings its own unique challenge to the table. So while it might be a niche pick, this game certainly deserves a spot on this list. While you are trying to deal with various enemies, however, you may want to take in the breathtaking environmental design on display in this game. Practically every moment of gameplay is a screenshot-able went that enhances the experience. So if you are looking for a game like is like Elden Ring but a tad bit on the easier side, then Horizon Forbidden West is a great choice in 2023.

3. The Witcher 3: Wild HuntWitcher 3 Box Edition

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, much like Horizon Forbidden West, doesn't necessarily have to be a soul-crushing and grueling experience. However, if players seek out that sort of thing, they certainly can, but simply adjusting the game's difficulty. Especially in the case of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, playing on harder difficulties can be absolutely punishing. The Death March mode of this game is not one to be taken lightly. However, this game is simply fantastic in its own right and allows players to explore the world at their own pace if they so choose.

Players will play as Geralt of Rivea. A Witcher who is responsible for thwarting monsters and other nefarious schemes throughout the land. This game has a fantastic narrative and a story that is certainly worth experiencing. So while it may be significantly older than titles like Elden Ring. The quality level that has been achieved in this game is no small feat. In fact, you could certainly say that it is one of the best games like Elden Ring to play in 2023.

2. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

Now for an entry that many players probably saw coming. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is the FromSoftware game that was released prior to Elden RIng. This game manages to have a distinctly unique flavor from its successor, though. The combat in this game focuses much more on fluidity and block timings and parries as opposed to the combat in Elden Ring. That isn't to say that this combat isn't deliberate. It absolutely is, but in a slightly different way compared to Elden Ring. This makes Sekiro a game that very well holds up in 2023.

So if you haven't played this title, definitely give it a try because you may prefer its setting, combat, or aesthetic. This game is simply phenomenal and manages to make every moment of gameplay feel intense. In addition, the learning curve within the game's combat is simply beautiful, as it asks the player to strive for perfection. All in all, if you haven't played this title yet, then now is a fantastic time in which to do so. Sekiro is one of the best titles in recent memory, and players should definitely enjoy it.

1. Nioh 2

Nioh 2 is a game that, in many ways, was overshadowed by the FromSoftware games. That isn't to say that the quality presented was lacking in any way. Moreso simply that the name recognition wasn't as strong. The game itself made quite a few improvements over the first title in the Nioh series. This led the game to feel significantly better than its predecessor. The combat in the game is fluid and very much open to player interpretation and creativity. For example, players are able to tailor their combat style to their liking. Players will be using a variety of weapons and skills to accomplish this.

So if you are looking for a title that will stand up to the quality of games like Elden Ring in 2023. Then Nioh 2 is an excellent choice through the use of the stance system as well as a few other implementations. Nioh 2 manages to carve out its own identity. In closing, Nioh 2 is a fantastic game that more players should enjoy if it happens to slip under their radar. Fans of the Souls series are sure to find a lot to love within this title.
