Bayonetta 3: Everything We Know So Far

bayonetta 3 release date

First announced in 2017, Bayonetta 3 is set to be released on October 28 as a Nintendo Switch exclusive. With the studio being silent until now regarding the details of the game, fans have been waiting eagerly for new updates and an official launch date for the game.

Platinum Games is slated to launch Bayonetta 3 as the latest addition to the celebrated action-adventure game series.  Nintendo has finalized the launch date in the latest trailer of the game, which was launched earlier this month.

Bayonetta 3 Gets A Release Date

At The Game Awards 2017, Platinum Games and Sega announced their collaboration with Nintendo for the third installment in this famous hack-and-slash game series.

There have been a few updates since then, including the first reveal during Nintendo's September Direct, which offered a glimpse into the new world of Bayonetta. Later in September 2021, the makers indicated that the game would be launched in 2022.

However, fans were not hopeful regarding the progress of the game’s development given its absence on June 2022's Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase.

Earlier this month, after it was reported that the ESRB rated it as “Mature” due to “violence, blood and gore, partial nudity, strong language”, fans were certain of the game’s imminent launch. Later, it became clear that Bayonetta 3 would be released on October 28.

What’s New in the Upcoming Game?

The new trailer features a completely new set of the game, marking a departure from its traditional style in the previous games. Wild battles and swift action alongside recurring characters such as Jeanne, Rodan, and Luca are shown off in this trailer.

A new playable character Viola, who is a witch apprentice to Bayonetta, also joins the cast. Players will be able to play with multiple versions of Bayonetta during the game.

First Look at Bayonetta 3 Gameplay – Nintendo Switch

PlatinumGames has tweeted that the gameplay will include a new feature – Naive Angel mode, which will tone down the nudity, and adult images will be kept hidden. This will enable users to play the game anywhere without being concerned about what might appear on the screen.

A special ‘Trinity Masquerade Edition’ has also been announced, which will comprise reversible game cases for the series, Nintendo Switch versions of Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2 and a 200-page artbook.

Bayonetta 3: File Size & Platform Revealed

Unlike Bayonetta 1, which was released across popular platforms, Bayonetta 3 will be released exclusively on Nintendo Switch. The release of Bayonetta 3 this year will mark an interval of 8 years as the previous title was released on Wii U back in 2014. According to a listing on Nintendo’s website, the upcoming game will require an overall drive space of 15GB.
