The Lord of the Rings Gollum – Everything We Know
Daedalic Entertainment and Nacon are coming up with The Lord of the Rings Gollum, a video game that puts players in the Gollum's shoes. This is an exciting new take on J. R. R. Tolkien's masterpiece.
People just don't seem to get enough of The Lord of the Rings. Through the years, the iconic trilogy The Lord of the Rings (popularly abbreviated as LOTR) has witnessed multiple movies and video game adaptations.
However, this time around, players will be able to witness Tolkein's fantasy world through the notorious Gollum's eyes. In fact, the devs have made the Smeagol the central character, and “The Lord of the Rings Gollum” explores his story.
The Lord of the Rings Gollum: What Does the Gameplay Look Like?
Very much like the book and movies, Gollum will explore the Middle-Earth. The character will retain its deceptive and sneaky persona. The title has been confirmed to be an action-adventure game that has some stealth elements. In fact, Daedalus wants to incorporate stealth as well as agile movements.
The visuals that we saw in teasers and trailers look impressive. The Middle-Earth looks exactly like what fans would imagine. The events in the game start parallel to the first chapters of the book.
Here's what the Steam's FAQs page says:
“The story of the game largely takes place in parallel to the early chapters of The Lord of the Rings, from Gollum’s time in Mordor, his capture by Sauron and his interrogation by Gandalf.”

The Lord of the Rings Gollum Release Date
Initially, LOTR Gollum had scheduled a 2021 release. However, the game has faced some delays and now it is likely to roll out in 2022 fall. The devs have not announced a fixed release date.
Once the game is released, The Lord of the Rings Gollum will be available on PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
