PlayStation Plus Makes Way for Yakuza Saga Today

Updated on

Sega's universally acclaimed beat 'em up series, Yakuza, is set to arrive on the newly established PlayStation Plus platform over the coming weeks.

With PlayStation Plus finally branching out to new opportunities to help develop its three-tiered subscription platform, fans are beginning to wonder which games will be coming to the service next, and, more importantly, when they will be arriving.

Well, as it turns out, subscribers to the platform will be getting one of the most successful beat 'em up franchises ever conceived. And yes, we're definitely refering to Yakuza when we say that.

With the series' eighth instalment currently in its development phase, now appears to be as good a time as any for newcomers to indulge in past events. Works wonders for PlayStation Plus users, of course, as the next four weeks will employ not just the one sequence — but four full episodes, with the remaining segments set to launch before year's end.

Which Games Are Coming to PlayStation Plus?

To start, subscribers will get the series' latest addition, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, as part of August's free titles. Then, to accompany it, PlayStation Plus will add Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami, and Yakuza Kiwami 2 to the mix. And finally, to round it all off, Yakuza 3 Remastered, Yakuza 4 Remastered, Yakuza 5 Remastered, and Yakuza 6: The Song of Life will make way for the library before 2022 is out.

Of course, this is fantastic news for fans of the series. As one of the most respected beat 'em up sagas in gaming, it's a real win-win for both Sony and its loyal followers. It also makes us wonder, of course, which series is most likely to follow suit before the year takes its final bow. But then, that's a story for another time, I suppose.

You can follow all the latest updates on PlayStation Plus' monthly games over on the official social handle here. We'll be sure to let you know of any sudden changes should they ever come to pass.
