The Legend of Zelda: Breathe of the Wild is undeniably one of the best games on Nintendo Switch. With its stunning visuals and a gripping plot, the video game was a massive hit. So it doesn't come as a surprise that fans are eagerly awaiting a Breathe of the Wild 2.

However, the unnamed game will have delays. As per Eiji Aonuma, the producer of the game series, has announced that the much-awaited sequel is facing delays as they're still perfecting it. In a YouTube video titled “Launch Timing Update for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Sequel”, Aonuma announced that:

“For those of you who have been looking forward to a release this year, we apologize. As previously announced, the adventure in this sequel will take place not just on the ground as in the previous game, but also in the skies above. However, the expanded world goes beyond that, and there will be an even wider variety of features you can enjoy, including new encounters and gameplay elements. In order to make this game’s experience something special, the entire development team is continuing to work diligently on this game, so please wait a while longer.”

In the same video, we get a teeny tiny glimpse at the sequel. We catch a snippet of Link with his signature sword. We also get to see some shots of the open world. Here are a few shots from the announcement video –

The yet-to-be-named sequel to Breathe of the Wild was announced way back in 2019. Everything was quiet after the 2019 teaser until Nintendo once again displayed another teaser at 2021 E3. They even had a 2022 release window for the sequel. But now it looks like the producers are gearing up for a 2023 spring release.

Ever since Breathe of the Wild came out in 2017, it has been a massive hit. The open world, liberal approach, and attractive visuals took the Zelda franchise to a whole new level. Along with being a critical and commercial success, the game set some important benchmarks for other open world games.
