What has eSports Prepared for the End of the Year?

This year was difficult for all industries. Despite its virtual component, esports has suffered enough. Anyway, fans of esports competitions have left without their favorite games and famous teams. Probably, the last month will be the final leg of online tournaments. And we will see LAN competitions in the new year. What will esports fans be able to watch at the very end of 2020?

CS:GO

The highest number of tournaments will be hosted in CS:GO in December. The discipline will please with three large competitions in this aspect. Let’s consider all competitions and what we can expect from them.

FLASHPOINT Season 2

Unlike the rest of the tournaments, this one is in the middle of the action. However, the playoff stage is scheduled for December, there will be only eight teams, which have passed the group stage. They will have to fight for the prize pool of 1 000 000 dollars. Half of this sum will be earned by the winner along with 3 000 BLAST Premier points. The league’s residents (C0ntact, DIG, Envy, Gen.G, Lions, MiBR, and C9), 3 invited teams (BIG, OG, and Fnatic), and 2 qualified tags (VP and forZe) participate in the second season.

BLAST Premier Fall 2020 – Finals

The tournament by RFRSH is scheduled for December 8-13. Eight teams will take part in it. All teams are known. These are 6 teams, which have passed the regular season, and 2 teams from the ShowDown stage:

  • Na`Vi
  • BIG
  • Astralis
  • FURIA
  • Mousesports

The tournament is interesting not only in terms of the prize pool of 425 000 dollars. The winner will receive a spot in the Global Final. It promises to be very exciting because it consists of a mix of the best teams from Europe and America. The teams from the spring and fall finals have already entered the list of participants. Blast Premier points are required to join the list. Na’Vi has become the first team to qualify with the help of the points.

IEM Global Challenge 2020

The IEM tournament, which has initially been scheduled as the first LAN competition after the pandemic, starts on December 15. However, this decision was suspended till better times due to the world situation. Teams will be playing online for this reason.

Dota 2 – Epic League Season 2

The second season of the league, which started in November, will be played during the whole month. The most interesting action is planned for December 8-13 because the playoffs will be carried on these dates. Traditionally, the tournament is divided into two divisions but all the attention is given to the first one. The strongest teams have received invites to it:

  • Na`Vi;
  • Team Liquid;
  • Alliance

Two teams, Just Error and mudgolems, passed the qualifiers and joined them. It did not pass without a scandal. The stack of players from Just Error received the right to play in the final match of the qualifiers, while the rest of the teams had to play the full bracket.

The current league is especially interesting. First of all, the prize pool amounts to 550 000 dollars. Secondly, the whole DPC season, which is scheduled for January 2021, will be hosted in a similar format.

VALORANT – First Strike Valorant

The competition is the first series of tournaments in Valorant discipline. Regional finals will be carried out in December where there is its own prize money for every region.

PUBG – PUBG Mobile Global Championship Season 0

This is the final event of the season in PUBG. The invited and qualified teams (24 in total) from all over the world will be fighting in two stages. The league stage will be hosted from November 24 to December 20. On the outcome of the stage, the best ones will compete for the main prize in the UAE. The prize pool amounts to 2 000 000 but the title of the champion is equally important.
