Resident Evil 4 Vs Resident Evil 4

Capcom Production Studios never misses the mark. The franchise behind Monster Hunter is massively popular for its survival horror game, Resident Evil 4. The game is undeniably the greatest ever made by Capcom, especially since it turned out to be a cross-platform hit. The game sold more than 11 million copies and won multiple “Game of the Year” awards. Suffice it to say, the game's success lies in the incredible gameplay, compelling storyline, stunning visuals, and characters.

Well, if you enjoyed this one, Capcom has more in store for you. The company recently announced the launch of a remake version of Resident Evil 4 in March 2023 on PC and consoles. While the game may still retain certain features from its predecessors, it's definitely going to have sleek upgrades. Also, with Capcom's track record so far, it's safe to say that the game will be another massive hit. So what's the difference between the two? Let's find out.

What is Resident Evil 4?

Resident Evil 4 - 2nd Trailer

Launched in 2005, Resident Evil 4 is a third-person shooter-survival horror game. The game was initially released for GameCube. However, it was later ported to multiple formats, greatly contributing to its success. The game stars Leon S. Kennedy, who is a U.S. government special agent. Leon takes on a quest to retrieve the president's daughter from an abduction by a mysterious cult. His maneuvers lead him to a remote village in Spain where the inhabitants are under the control of the Los Illuminados, the infamous cult behind the president's daughter's kidnapping.

Right from the start, Capcom raises the bar in the survival horror genre with periodic quality jumpscares that put players on edge. Also, the game's release created momentum in the gaming world. It soon became a massive hit, and players ditched the static angles from older games for a third-person view that revitalizes the action. Supposedly, Resident Evil 4's introduction of new gameplay elements that rivals in the gaming industry had not yet explored stirred excitement among fans. It is no surprise that, to date, it remains a classic game that players undeniably relish.

What is Resident Evil 4 Remake?

Resident Evil 4 Remake is an upcoming game set for launch in 2023 by Capcom. It is a revamp of the 2005 Residential Evil 4 with plenty more. The game will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows. Like its predecessor, the storyline revolves around U.S. agent Leon S. Kennedy. Six years after the passing of the biological ruin in Racoon City, Leon, who is one of the survivors, is recruited for his most crucial mission yet to rescue the President's daughter from her abductors. However, it soon turns out this is not your average kidnapping. Residents of the Los Illuminados Village, where the President's daughter is locked up, face an eerie infection. Leon braces for the challenge with impending death and unfathomable enemies at every corner.

Capcom plans to introduce modern gameplay while retaining elements of the previous game. The remake also draws elements from Resident Evil 2  and Resident Evil 3. As one of the greatest survival games of its era, it's only fitting to give Resident Evil 4 a remake for fans of the genre to re-experience the thrill of new generation consoles. Capcom promises a bucket-load of improvements with the remake, and here's what to expect.

Resident Evil 4 vs Resident Evil 4 Remake Differences?

The most evident difference between the two games is the time gap. With Resident Evil 4 launching in 2005 and the latter in 2023, it is a significant period for Capcom to perfect the trifling mishaps. Notwithstanding, Resident Evil 4 continues to raise the bar and is considered the franchise's peak. The question is whether the remake will live up to fans' expectations.

Graphics

The graphics will undeniably significantly improve with Resident Evil 4 launching on the new generation consoles. The game will feature improved aesthetics with a modern feel. Unlike the original, which has a sepia backlight, the remake brings out more of the scary element with a foreboding atmosphere characterized by limited luminosity and dark shadows. Moreover, the improved aesthetics also add to the gore nature of the game, an upgrade that fans of the horror title will relish.

Gameplay

Both games feature similar gameplay. However, the remake will have a few neat upgrades. For instance, Leon will be able to take cover or crouch in the face of an attack. This stealth method comes in handy when players are running out of ammunition. Also, fans will experience fewer of the Quick Time Events, which were a popular mode in Resident Evil.

Furthermore, the remake will feature an upgrade in combat. Unlike the original game, where moving Leon while aiming his weapon presented a challenge, the remake makes it easier to draw nearer to enemies while still maintaining target- a feature that is imminent in the modern combat genre.

The monsters in the remake also appear to have intelligent personalities, which presents a challenging fight for Leon. From the trailer's showcase, one Ganados is holding a chainsaw, attempting to block Leon from his path.

Weapons

In Resident Evil 4, players obtain weapons and ammunition by visiting the merchant. While this is still retained in the remake, Capcom also gives players the option of crafting their weapons. As Leon traverses through the village, he can collect items to make healing potions or ammunition.

It's no surprise that Residential Evil 4 Remake seemingly appears to oust its predecessor with the planned upgrades. Despite not experiencing the game in its full depth, the trailer details an appetizing and intriguing new look that makes the storyline more interesting. Players with a creative mindset and a knack for modern visuals will delight more in the remake than its predecessor.
