Diablo 4: Best Barbarian Build

Updated on

Thanks to its beefy health, strength, and emphasis on melee ability, the Barbarian class is ideal for players who like to be right in the middle of the action. What's more, the Barbarian is widely regarded as one of the best classes to play in Diablo 4. However, that of course is very dependent on how you build your Barbarian. Do you want to take advantage of their AoE, Bleed, or Tankeness? It's a difficult question because each build will shape your playstyle differently as you level up and progress further in the game. Nonetheless, we've got the best Barbarian build for you right here.

In fact, we have three of the best barbarian builds for you. Each strong in its own right, you can't go wrong with building your Barbarian in one of the three ways we mention below. We know you're probably eager to know how these builds play out, so let's get started.

3. Whirlwind Barbarian Build

The Whirlwind Barbarian Build is a great pick for doing AOE damage. Essentially, it exploits the Whirlwind skill so that it deals massive amounts of damage. Furthermore, building it with a focus on boosting Fury Generation ensures you can hold the channeled Skill for as long as possible.

Skills for Barbarian Whirlwind build:

  • Frenzy – Enhanced Frenzy – Battle Frenzy
  • Whirlwind – Enhanced Whirlwind – Violent Whirlwind
  • Rallying Cry – Enhanced Rally Cry – Tactical Rallying Cry
  • War Cry – Enhanced War Cry – Mighty War Cry
  • Wrath of the Berserker – Prime – Supreme

For this build, we recommend you start off with Frenzy. It's a solid basic attack and helps to quickly build up fury. Of course, being the emphasis of this build, you'll want Whirlwind next. However, we want our whirlwind move to last as long as possible. That's why we'll be following it with Rallying Cry, and aim to get the tactical upgrade as quickly as possible, as it will significantly boost your movement speed and Fury Generation.

Nearing the end you'll want to add in War Cry to help maximize your damage output. Finally, you'll want the Wrath of the Berserker Ultimate to top it off, as this skill will enhance this build in every way. There you have it, that is the best Barbarian build to maximize your AOE damage. Effectively, with this build, you'll be able to non-stop slice your way through enemies. Let's just hope you don't get dizzy.

2. Bleed Barbarian Build

The bleed build, also known as the bloody Barbarian, is one of the most popular Barbarian builds. This build makes use of the Barbarians Bleed effect, which can deal significant damage over time. Because of this, the build is ideal for widdling down the health of bosses and stronger enemies.

Skills for Barbarian Bleed build:

  • Lunging Strike – Enhanced Lunging Strike – Battle Lunging Strike
  • Rend – Enhanced Rend – Violent Rend
  • Rallying Cry – Enhanced Rally Cry – Tactical Rallying Cry
  • War Cry – Enhanced War Cry – Mighty War Cry
  • Wrath of the Berserker – Prime – Supreme

Although this build is great on its own, your weapon mastery is what tops it off. For that, you'll want Rupture – Enhanced Rupture – Fighter's Rupture. This weapon mastery allows you to capitalize on huge amounts of bleed damage. Then finally, go with the Gushing Wounds Capstone Passive to take your bleed, just that much further.

The only restraint with the bleed Barbarian build is that it will require you to use slashing weapons. So, in that case, you could go with a two-handed sword or axe. As you'll want each strike to do as much damage as possible, then leave the bleed to do the rest. Nonetheless, the Bleed Barbarian build is one of, if not the best Barbarian build in Diablo 4 right now.

1. Single Target Barbarian Build

best barbarian build

Barbarian is an already powerful class regardless of how you build it. The Whirlwind and Bleed build simply exploit it even further. Nonetheless, since Barbarians are known for dealing a lot of damage, let's use that to our advantage and one-shot enemies.

Skills for Single Target Bleed build:

  • Flay – Enhanced Flay – Combat Flay
  • Lunging Strike – Enhanced Lunging Strike
  • Rend – Enhanced Rend – Furious Rend
  • Rallying Cry – Enhanced Rally Cry – Tactical Rallying Cry
  • Wrath of the Berserker – Prime – Supreme

The key ingredient to the single-target barbarian build is the Death Blow weapon mastery. This allows you to attempt a killing strike, and if you do kill them, the cooldown resets. As a result, you can almost endlessly spam it to one-shot enemies everywhere you go. Do note, this mastery requires a two-handed slashing weapon. Nonetheless, the single-target Barbarian build brings out the most damage in the Barbarian class. And if you're playing with a squad, we highly recommend it, although this build doe's hold its own in solo.

Regardless of which build you choose, just know you're in good hands with the Barbarian class. It's friendly to newcomers, easy to get the hang of, and extremely fun to use as you relentlessly batter your way through enemies. Since you'll be in the thick of it as a Barbarian, the last suggestion we have is to also make your barb as tanky as you can alongside these builds. There's no secret you'll be soaking damage since you lack speed and agility with this class. Consequently, there is no running away from your problems with the Barbarian class.

So, what's your take? Do you agree with our builds? Is there another Barbarian build you think is best in Diablo 4? Let us know in the comments below or over on our socials here!
