5 Best Planet Coaster DLC, Ranked

Published

 on

Planet Coaster is rife with fleshed out expansion packs and thousands of customizable cosmetics, a lot of which have been used to erect some of the most awe-inspiring virtual theme parks of all time. Even to this day, budding creators and thrill seekers both look to the dynamic park management simulator to transform their visions into fantastical worlds of wonder. And without the DLC Packs, of course, none of these would exist.

While the initial hype surrounding Planet Coaster may have since settled down, the game's playerbase is still very much alive and kicking, and it's due to the multiple feature Packs that creators are able to squeeze the base game for all its material. Question is, which expansions provide the most content, and which of them are worth forking out a few additional dollars for? Well, here's how we see it. Here are, in our opinion, the five best Planet Coaster expansions to date.

5. Magnificent Rides Collection

Magnificent Rides Collection Preview! w/ Sam Denney

The Magnificent Rides Collection is a jam-packed box set full of fresh coasters and cosmetics that are directly inspired by some of the biggest theme park attractions in the world. Because of this, players can incorporate some of the finest adrenaline-fueled tracks known to mankind. This does, of course, include things like Vector, Mind Melt, and Swift Eagles. And that's barely scratching the surface of what's left in the barrel.

To have a plethora of new coasters is one thing, but to hoard a surplus of items is something else. Thanks to this rather lofty set, builders can basically indulge in a whole new game. Not only does this make the questionably low price tag an absolute steal, but also one of the most generous. For that, we're inclined to give the Magnificent Rides Collection a spot on this list.

4. Vintage Pack

Planet Coaster’s Vintage Pack Out Now!

The Vintage Pack is an ideal choice for those looking to crunch down on the high-octane coasters and settle for something a little more, say, withered yet timeless. And so, if recreating a Victorian boardwalk complete with all the gears, knobs, bells, and whistles sounds like a breath of fresh air after enduring countless hours of adrenaline-fueled track building, then it's definitely worth checking out.

With the Vintage Pack, you can get ahold of a myriad of new features and perks for your park. This includes old-fashioned popcorn machines, fortune teller booths, and a variety of wooden rollercoasters. As well as these, you'll also have access to dozens of scenery items, meaning that modern marvel of yours can return to its primitive years. It's classy, collected, and absolutely brimming with opportunities to rebuild a boardwalk empire.

3. Studios Pack

Planet Coaster Studios Pack OUT NOW!

To make a theatrical masterpiece, one must first learn to utilize the tools that can be found in the studio. The good news is, Planet Coaster's Studios Pack offers a huge selection of accessories for you to hone your craft. And so, if transforming a theme park into a fully functioning movie set sounds like your idea of fun, then this bulky update is definitely worth the minor investment.

The Studios Pack provides you with the blueprints to create immersive backlot tours and in-depth movie sets. Furthermore, you'll also be able to build a variety of slideshows, track rides, and Hollywood-themed coasters. Throw in a roster full of fresh-faced movie stars for entertainers, and you've got yourself a fantastic addition to the core Planet Coaster build. Universal Studios ain't got nothing on this one.

2. Adventure Pack

It's time to take your guests to the inner nooks and crannies of a thick and treacherous jungle setting in the Adventure Pack. Loaded with countless temples, traps, Aztec ruins, and pyramids, this all-in-one collection envelopes some of the best and most innovative blueprints in all of Planet Coaster.

With the Adventure Pack enabled, players can access a huge selection of jungle-themed scenery items, track rides, and coasters. Also included in the expansion is a roster of ravenous beasts, including crocodiles, hippos, and mummies. To cap it all off, a new entertainer, Renee Feu, joins the fold, giving the newly established theme park a poster child to showcase its every feature, both new and old.

1. Spooky Pack

Planet Coaster Spooky Pack OUT NOW

Of course, there's nothing quite like adding a little extra spookiness to your park. Thanks to the Spooky Pack, builders can step into the shadow realm and transform their florescent creations into bone-chillingly opaque coasters and slideshow attractions. With two new track rides, The Hoax, and The Huntsman, and dozens of new horrifying blueprints, aspiring managers can let their inner goth run wild with this treasure trove of seasonal materials.

Billed as one of the best expansion packs to date, the Spooky Pack brings every little detail that fans spent months requesting in one lofty update. For a small price, Planet Coaster doubles in size, adding a fresh layer of adrenaline-fueled horror to an already booming platform chock-full of goodies. It's horror 101, and it's the most fun you'll have outside of the base game, period.
