9 Best Biloxi Mississippi Casinos

Updated on

Since the antebellum period, Biloxi in Mississippi has been a summer resort. Sitting right on the Gulf Coast, it is the perfect place to cool off for a week or two in the summer. In the 1990s, Mississippi legalised gambling, and this had a huge effect on Biloxi. The city was transformed, as new hotels and casinos were suddenly erected on the site to take advantage of the new laws. These casinos are still around today, as are many newer establishments. If you plan to go on holiday somewhere and get in some gaming time, then Biloxi is the place to go. Whether you want to eat the famous Mississippi Crawfish Etouffee, dip in the Ocean, or win a massive jackpot, you can do it all at Biloxi.

When Hurricane Katrina hit Mississippi in August 2005, many of the casinos in the city were damaged. Some of the establishments even closed down permanently. The main problem was that the law only permitted riverboat casinos, or those that sat right on the Gulf Coast, to operate. As such, they took enormous damage from the hurricane. In the weeks following the natural disaster, the state of Mississippi amended the gambling laws to allow casinos to be built on land. The law states that they still must be within 800 feet of the shore.

This led to the casinos expanding, and today you can enjoy a full range of amenities at the resorts. Whilst they do not compare in terms of size or facilities to Las Vegas, they are still tremendous fun. Expect good food, epic shows, leisure facilities, and some awesome gaming opportunities.
