Best Teams & Combos in Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope

Merging Mario and Rabbids: Sparks of Hope into one is a sweet delight, primarily because you have access to a broader range of exciting characters to check out. In total, Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope adds nine characters, with whom you’re free to select a group of three to head into battle. Whoever you choose and the characters you combine together matter more than you may presume. Each character has distinct strengths and weaknesses that, when combined with others in a team, can make or break a game.

What’s more? Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope doesn’t always instigate the same scenario and needs in its playthrough. Some moments will require you to fight against a big boss, which would require a damage-dealing team and combos. Others may pose battles against weaker groups of enemies, which may require you to add a tank character to your team to withstand damage over longer periods. Still, some missions thrive on survivability or agility to make it through to the end.

So, how, then, do you decide which characters to add to your team? Well, our best teams and combos in Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope give you a great place to start.

5. Horde Team & Combo

Princess Peach (Protector)
Mario (All-rounder)
Rabbid Mario (Brawler)

At some points during your playthrough, you’ll run into hordes of enemies. Each one may have weaker strength. However, when combined, they can be a force to be reckoned with. So, you want to anticipate their capability by preparing a team that covers all bases beforehand.

With the Princess Peach, Mario, and Rabbid Mario composition, you’ll be able to inflict effective AoE damage while also evading incoming damage as swiftly as possible. Princess Peach will provide effective protective cover by placing a shield barrier on allies to withstand enemy attack. When cornered, she uses her shotgun, which is fitting for its close-range power.

Meanwhile, Mario and Rabbid Mario unleash hell on enemies. Mario can attack from afar, thanks to a decent repertoire of AoE attacks. He moves pretty fast from danger, using jumps and dashes. On the other hand, Rabbid Mario focuses on close-quarters attacks and counters enemy advances with ease.

4. Starter Team & Combo

Luigi (Sneak Attacker)
Rabbid Mario (Brawler)
Rabbid Peach (Combat healer)

  • Luigi (Sneak Attacker)
  • Rabbid Mario (Brawler)
  • Rabbid Peach (Combat healer)

For an effective team, you want to have a long-range and heavy-hitter, close-range and tank, and support character to heal and give extra buffs to your team. Luigi is a sniper whose skills exceed everyone else’s. He protects Rabbid Mario as he unleashes spread attacks on enemies at close range.

Meanwhile, Rabbid Peach works toward healing and defending Luigi and Rabbid Mario as they work their magic. All three are straightforward and available right after the tutorial. So, they can provide the perfect stepping stone for beginners looking to curate a balanced build.

3. Movement Team & Combo

Rabbid Rosalina (Demotivator)
Rabbid Luigi (Pest)
Edge (Blade Master)

  • Edge (Blade Master)

If you run into battles that span across an expansive arena, focusing on movement may tip the scale in your favor far more than offense or defense. You’ll need to cover plenty of ground as you weave in and out of combat encounters in as little time as possible. Fortunately, you have Rabbid Rosalina, Rabbid Luigi, and Edge coming in for the rescue.

Rabbid Rosalina is your frontline warrior who specializes in locking down enemies and taking them down with her Ennui move. She’ll buy Rabbid Luigi and Edge time to maneuver around the battlefield, with Rabbid Luigi stringing together attacks on multiple enemies and Edge getting in close for the kill in time before getting away with her dash ability.

2. Defense-based Team & Combo

Bowser (Overseer)
Rabbid Peach (Combat Healer)
Rabbid Mario (Brawler)

  • Bowser (Overseer)
  • Rabbid Peach (Combat Healer)
  • Rabbid Mario (Brawler)

A good defense can be a great offensive strategy. So, having Bowser, Rabbid Peach, and Rabbid Mario put up a good defense, especially in the wake of multiple enemies at once, can help you withstand prolonged battles. Bowser is your heavy hitter, going in with explosives and unleashing devastating AoE damage. He has a high HP to help withstand attacks.

Meanwhile, Rabbid Peach offers much-appreciated healing, giving Bowser room to work his magic throughout the many waves of enemies. But Rabbid Peach isn’t defenseless. She can protect herself thanks to powerful ranged attacks and movement skills.

Lastly, Rabbid Mario boosts the team with equally high HP. He easily performs close-range hits and counterattacks. All the while, he protects your team’s cover by attacking while moving, which helps to take all the attention away from Bowser and Rabbid Peach.

1. Boss Battle Team & Combo

Mario (All-rounder)
Bowser (Overseer)

Boss battles are tricky. Preparing beforehand is not a debate. You’ll need a ranged fighter who can weave in and out of the battle arena with ease. In that case, Mario can help inflict a decent amount of widespread attacks, locking down bosses and getting away with ease. He has swift movement thanks to performing jumps and dashes. Since boss fights often have groups of weaker enemies, you’ll need a suitable crowd controller who can take out as many enemies as they can.

For this, Bowser fits the job description perfectly. He can unleash heavy, explosive attacks that destroy everything in their way. Bowser causes environmental destruction, which can come in handy when clearing out the dead weight. His attacks unleash a devastating AoE attack that quickly wipes out anything that moves, leaving the big boss to deal with.

Both Mario and Bowser will work great alongside a healer like Princess Peach. You need her to sustain the battle for longer, using her healing capabilities to help withstand damage. But Princess Peach can also protect herself with her shotgun blast weapon. During boss fights, you’re going to need all the help you can get, provided your healer maintains a safe distance at all times.
