Killer Inn

What would you think would happen to a team of 24 strangers trapped in a castle holding deadly secrets? Well, this premise marks the way into a gruesome and chilling narrative behind Killer Inn. A new triple-A multiplayer is set to hit the consoles in the near future, and Square Enix and Tactic Studios are surely getting us all buzzed up. While the game promises a unique thrill, it still manages to give us a sense of intense paranoia, just as in Among Us. In the same light, the game provides an adventure full of fast-paced action and forensic investigation.

What is Killer Inn

Standing around a lamb killed b a wolf

Killer Inn traps players in a murder mystery experience. Each experience in this game dictates your last final moments before your death. Victory is a hard-earned adventure. If you make it, say, “Hurrah!” If you don’t, you get to relive your steps, this time wiser and more prepared.

The multiplayer horror game blends action, mystery, and social deduction into an experience of a lifetime. From the reputable Square Enix and Tactic Studios, players can certainly wait for another epic delivery. Start preparing your crew of 24, enter the creepy castle within the mountains, and test your survival instincts.

Before the deadly wolves get to you, the ‘lambs,’ start solving all mysteries. The mysteries include uncovering hidden killers, who could, in fact, be part of your crew. The game is a combination of action, strategy, and mystery that provides each player with a unique experience.

Story

Killer Inn

Killer Inn’s plot aims to build mystery and tension without straying from its intense, action-packed gameplay. The game kicks off in a secretive, centuries-old castle hidden within the mountains. Astra, a secretive organization, has invited 24 strangers to participate in a mysterious game.

Astra has lured the players with a promise of unimaginable wealth and rewards. However, once inside, a new truth dawns on the guests: this is no ordinary competition. What begins as an invitation quickly turns into a deadly trap. The doors are locked, and the participants realize they are not merely guests. They are players in a violent game of survival and deception.

Each of the 24 participants is randomly assigned a hidden role. Some become a Lamb, an innocent player trying to survive. At the same time, other guests become wolves, who are killers blending in among the Lambs to eliminate them all.

While most social deduction games offer a chance to vote off people from the dwelling, Killer Inn doesn’t. Players must uncover the truth through action, investigation, and combat. Every death leaves behind physical clues. Such clues include fingerprints, hair, footprints, and bullet casings. Lambs must use these clues to identify the Wolves.

However, there is a twist. Lambs must ensure that they kill only the wolves. If you wrongly attack another Lamb, you’re petrified on the spot.

Gameplay

Finghting with guns and arms

Killer Inn’s gameplay is where the game truly shines. About a third of the players, usually seven to eight players, are Wolves. The wolves should kill all the lambs without getting caught for a chance to win. Luckily, the wolves know who their targets are. Their greatest task is killing in silence, combined with a mastery of deceit.

On the other hand, lambs are unaware of who their enemies are. They, therefore, have the most work in the game. Be watchful of the person next to you. At the same time, the players ought to be fast on their feet to uncover these wolves before their elimination. With luck on your side, you can manage to flee the castle but forfeit the ultimate chance of a victory. While on the mission to eradicate the attackers, lambs should not kill fellow lambs. If done so, the said lamb turns into a stone, thus kicking you out of the game. The stakes are high, and the lambs need to be extremely keen.

Unlike other mystery games that rely solely on conversations, Killer Inn incorporates stealth, fast-paced combat, and special character roles with unique abilities. Every game feels fresh, thrilling, and unpredictably different. Different from games such as Among Us or The Resistance, there is no voting system in Killer Inn. Instead, the gameplay heavily relies on clues. Lambs have to eliminate the Wolves physically. When a player is killed, clues such as hair strands, fingerprints, blood stains, or clothing scraps are left at the crime scene. These clues help Lambs to identify the wolves. The clues are only visible in the special ‘focus mode,’ which allows players to trace the movements and actions of others. This mode turns Killer Inn into a forensic game where survival depends on both observation and timing.

Third-person navigation of the castle enables players to engage more fully in the action. You might run, fight, climb, sneak, or hide. Among weapons are pistols, rifles, grenades, traps, poison, and melee weapons like knives and clubs. Wolves can strike unexpectedly and avoid detection, while Lambs can attempt to defend themselves once they have enough evidence. In addition, Lambs can also try to escape by collecting four keys and raising anchors at the harbor gate.

Knocking a player out

Safe zones are another interesting part of the game. NPCs monitor these areas. If a Wolf kills someone inside a safe zone, they are automatically revealed to everyone else. This gives Lambs a chance to regroup or strategize without fear of attack. But these zones are not perfect safety nets. Wolves can still enter and plan their next move.

Players can also level up while playing. You can get tokens by completing quests, locating clues, or surviving battles. You can exchange these tokens for better equipment, like rare weapons, armor, or medkits, from vendors. Sometimes they can be used to create escape routes, such as a secret route to a boat dock.

Another layer of strategy comes from character selection. Each player selects from over 20 unique characters with distinct abilities that level up during the match. Players can play as a boxer, pirate, thief, doctor, otaku, and many more. Each person has special talents and abilities. For example, the Doctor may be better at assessing the evidence or healing teammates, while the Boxer may be more effective in close combat. These roles make every match feel unique and provide teams with ways to form effective strategies, even in a game built on hidden agendas.

Trailer

The trailer for Killer Inn was officially unveiled at the 2025 Summer Game Fest. The announcement trailer featured an eerie soundtrack, mournful tone, and appealing visuals. The opening scenes feature slow shots of a castle lit by the moonlight and torches. Masked players chase each other through long hallways, courtyards, and rooms. You can see the use of weapons, the collection of clues, and dramatic slow-motion kills.

The trailer features intense scenes of violence, rapid decision-making, and betrayal. Some scenes show Lambs accusing others and trying to defend themselves, while Wolves lie or set traps. There’s also a sneak peek at some of the character roles and how different their playstyles can be.
