5 Best New Features in Splatoon 3

Published

 on

Splatoon 3 is celebrating a very lucrative launch as of September 8th, 2022. The new iteration in the Splatoon series includes a lot of new features with its shiny coat of ink. With many of these inclusions being very helpful to new players as well as veterans, it is good to see the Splatoon team did not just rest on their laurels. With that being said, here are what we believe to be the 5 best new features in Splatoon 3.

 5. New Weapon Types

Splatoon is a series that has always been known for its creative weaponry. This has not changed in the newest game, in fact, this aspect has been improved. With many of the fan favorites returning from Splatoon 2, it would have been simple to just allow for them to be used. Instead, the Splatoon team crafted whole new weapon types for players to enjoy and learn. Each with its own learning curve and effectiveness in ink-covered combat.

With many players rallying around it, the Splatana Wiper is a wonderful addition to the roster of weapons in the game. With the ability to launch vertical strikes at range. As well as switching to horizontal mode, the Wiper is a much-loved new addition. Along with the Splatana Wiper is the Tri-Stringer a bow that allows for ranged combat and a number of unique abilities. Players who choose to use the Tri-Stringer will notice that it has the ability to be devastating from a distance. Making for an awesome addition as well. Altogether the new weapon types in-game make for a lot of new opportunities, as is one of Splatoon 3's Best New Features.

4. Ability to Skip The Splatcast

Players have long wished for the ability to skip the Splatcast that plays in each announcement of the stages. This had become an annoyance in past entries in the Splatoon series, and many are glad to see that it has been rectified. This makes for a smoother game experience as players are not pulled away from their match. All in all, this update in functionality allows for players to decide whether or not they want to deal with the Splatcasts or not making for a more concise experience.

Allowing for Stages to be selected without witty banter makes for an easier time in-game. It is for this reason, as well as others, that players are elated to be able to Skip the Splatcast. This is due to having to watch the cast before you could even play the game in previous entries. Now you simply tap a button to listen to the cast and learn the stages as you walk around the plaza with the announcements playing in the corner of the screen.

3. New Special Abilities

The newest iteration of Splatoon offers more Specials to be mastered throughout hours of gameplay. With fan favorites such as the Crab Tank a literal Crab Tank that allows for players to rain down missiles and rounds of ink. This is not the only new Special, however, but one of many that have made for a more diverse gaming experience and a change in the meta. While the Crab Tank won't be winning any races anytime soon, what it lacks in mobility it makes up for with firepower.

The Crab Tank is far from the only new Special added to Splatoon 3. The Tacticooler is a way for players to be more supportive in their Special usage. As it helps the entire team refresh them with a cola, which adds additional random buffs to the players who drink it. The Tacticooler is certainly a cool entry into the series and has the potential to be of great use. While it is too early to see how this will affect overall gameplay, for the time being, the Tacticooler will serve as a useful tool for players and teams alike. Making it one of the most adaptable of  Splatoon 3's Best New Features.

2. New Maps

New maps have been added to Splatoon 3. With a total of 12 maps, Splatoon 3 has added a number of new maps to its roster of sensational stages. Scorch Gorge is a wonderfully barren wasteland you can quickly cover in ink. While in contract, Mincemeat Metalworks seems to be a more industrial map with many tight corridors to splat your way through. Undertow Spillway seems to be a more classic design than other entries. At the same time, Retail Alley seems to add the grittiness of a graffiti-filled street alley into Splatoon 3.

With all of these new additions to the game, one map seems to stand out above the rest. Hagglefish Market is a wonderfully designed map with many opportunites for verticality to be used to a player's advantage. This map serves as the shining star of the maps with many lanes of attack. Altogether these maps make for wonderful additions to the Splatoon franchise and will sure to gain popularity as more players play the game and get their hands on them. Making New Maps one of Splatoon 3's Best New Features.

1. Customization

Style has always been an integral part of the Splatoon series. With Splatoon 3, however, the options are even more fleshed out than its predecessors. Able to outfit your squids or octopi with outrageous ornaments, with more options than ever before. Player cards and emotes that play after a victorious game are also present. This adds to the game's ability to make sure that your squid has swagger and your octopi is original.

With a heavy emphasis on making each player's character feel like they are one of a kind. The new customization options available in Splatoon 3 make for a welcome addition. Players are able to choose new hairstyles and even unique eye colors. There are also a ton of new gear pieces to choose from, including stylish new shirts, hats, and shoes.
