Realcast’s Hugo Teyssier Talks Hide the Corpse – Interview Series

Hide the Corpse, the morbidly entertaining hide-and-seek-like VR entry from HyperVR and Realcast, is headed to PlayStation VR2 on August 18, 2025.
“The cops are on their way, and time is running out!” the game’s description reads in part. “Move through different themed rooms and find a spot to stash Gus the corpse out of sight. Minding a short four-minute timer, drag and maneuver Gus across physics-based levels, hide pieces of evidence, erase incriminating fingerprints, and leave no traces that could lead to a guilty verdict!”
“We’re thrilled that our supportive community loves Hide the Corpse – their positive feedback has empowered us to continue to expand Gus’ world with updates and new platforms,’’ said Eneko Barandiaran, Publishing Manager, HyperVR Games. “We can’t wait to invite PlayStation VR players to join the corpse-hiding party next month!”
To get ahead of the game’s launch, we decided to reach out to the team over at HyperVR to learn more about it. Here is everything we were able to learn during that rather odd yet insightful interview with the Hide the Corpse squad…
Hide the Corpse is due to grace the PlayStation VR2 on August 18, 2025, and we’re super excited to see more of it! Tell us, what inspired you to merge a rather morbid concept with a physics-based sandbox VR experience?
Hugo: We wanted to contrast the morbid theme with an absurd sense of humor. Our goal was to turn something dark into something unexpectedly funny through situational comedy.
Let’s shift our attention over to Gus—the dead weight who’ll be leading this rather morbid sandbox expedition. The big question is this: Who is he? Is there a backstory that we ought to know about before jumping into the grizzly aftermath?
Hugo: Absolutely not. You play as a completely ordinary person who unexpectedly stumbles upon a corpse in a place you’d never expect. The idea is that you’re not the murderer, you’re simply in the wrong place at the wrong time, and now you’re forced to hide the body.
Could you tell us a bit more about each of the levels that’ll feature in Hide the Corpse? Diners? Museums? Sunken ships? Paint us a picture of these locations, if you’d be so kind.
Hugo: All our environments are inspired by the 1970s. The diner level pays homage to classic American diners, the shipwreck level takes place in an old, half-sunken vessel, and the space station level draws from retro sci-fi movies of that era.
And that’s not all, we’ve also created a few other unique levels, but we’ll let players discover those for themselves…
So, how exactly does it all work? Would you mind walking us through a four-minute investigation? From the initial hiding phase to the post-burial process?
Hugo: To properly hide a body, you first need to scout the environment and find a good hiding spot. Then, you must drag the body there and place it in such a way that not a single part remains visible. Optionally, you can also clean up any evidence and wipe away your fingerprints to avoid suspicion.
A morbid question: How would one hide a body without arousing suspicion? Do you have any useful tips or tricks on how to tackle these levels?
Hugo: Take your time and be meticulous. Rushing will only increase the chaos.
We’re curious to hear more about the cosmetics and the other in-game perks that’ll be rewarded to those who successfully manage to evade the spotlight. Please could you tell us more about these features?
Hugo: There are six unlockable outfits for the body, each one tied to your performance rating.
Do you have any plans to further expand on the game in the future? Could, say, a few additional maps eventually make their way into the campaign, or is it still too early to say?
Hugo: We’re currently developing new content and are especially proud of the new physics-based mechanics we’re exploring. I can’t share too much just yet, but we’re excited for what’s coming.
How can we stay up to date with Hide the Corpse? Would you mind pointing us in the direction of any useful social feeds, newsletters, or perhaps any other reading materials?
Hugo: Join our official Discord server, every update, developer news, and sneak peek is shared there.
We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us about Hide the Corpse. Before we head out, would you like to add any final comments for our readers?
Hugo: Hide the Corpse is a truly unique game, and we’ve poured all our passion and humor into it. We’d love for you to try it out, and don’t hesitate to share your most creative hiding spots with us!
Thanks again, Hugo!
