To do so, players have access to an impressive assortment of melee and ranged weapons. Additionally, you can craft weapons, armor, and gear, with the aim being to craft the most powerful items possible. 

There are so many new items you can craft. Only when you complete the story and reach level four do you start to craft the best weapons at the weapon workshops. Furthermore, you’re free to upgrade each weapon to a certain limit. Upgrades further increase a weapon’s attack damage, whether ranged or melee.

Astra is unlocked later in the game as Evan's magical abilities develop, and players will need to spend skill points to obtain and upgrade the skill. Once unlocked, Astra can be activated during battles by holding the appropriate button, charging up the skill, and then releasing it to unleash a devastating burst of light-based magic on the enemies.

The effectiveness of Astra is influenced by Evan's magic attack stat, so players should focus on equipping him with gear that boosts his magic attack power to maximize the damage dealt by the skill.

3. Vermillion Blade

The Vermillion Blade is one of the game's most formidable blades. It is a fire-elemental weapon, which means it deals additional fire damage when attacking enemies. If you compare it against other swords with the same stats, the Vermillion Blade deals 80% more in magic damage. This blade can be used by characters like Evan and Roland, who are proficient with swords. To obtain it, you will need to progress through the game, as it is a higher-tier weapon. The weapon can be found in the Faraway Caves. Keep in mind that finding and crafting the Vermillion Blade may require you to progress further in the story, develop your kingdom, and engage in various side quests and activities to gather the necessary resources.

2. Brightwing Bow

The Brightwing Bow is one of the best weapons in Ni no Kuni II in its class. This bow is a powerful ranged weapon primarily used by the character Roland, who is a close ally and advisor to Evan, the main protagonist. As a bow-type weapon, the Brightwing Bow allows Roland to deal ranged damage to enemies from a safe distance, making it effective in various battle situations.

The Brightwing Bow stands out for its impressive stats and unique attributes. Mind you, you cannot upgrade this weapon, but it still possesses a higher attack than most crafted bows. To get it, you have to farm away in the Faraway Forest, and if lack knocks on your door, you might receive it as a drop.

1. Monstar Sword

Also known as the Sword of Unity, the Monstar I'd crown it the best weapon in Ni no Kuni II. You will need this very weapon to wrap up the game. That is, defeat the final boss. It comes equipped with high attack power and the ability to boost Evan's magical abilities. The weapon is believed to have magical abilities that help its user heal wounds. You will get the sword of unity just before the final boss battle. 

Note that you can only equip Evan, the story's main character, with the sword. So if you have been playing with any other character, you have to switch them up as you approach this final battle in Chapter 9. To get the Mostar Sword, head down to the Shrine of Unity and defeat all tainted enemies here. After defeating the last monster, you will receive a cup that you have to deliver to Bracken at the Evermore throne room. Ensure you have upgraded the Evermore workshop to level four, and Evan will receive the Sword of Unity.
