Sackboy: A Big Adventure — Best Costumes (& How to Unlock Them)

Costumes are always a fun way to spice up your gaming experience. They add an extra flair to the characters you’ve been controlling for a while, altering their appearance and sometimes abilities and, in turn, breathing new life into the game. In Sackboy: A Big Adventure, you can tinker around with 46 costumes, each unique in their own right.
But not all the costumes are fabulous. Some are costly, while others simply aren’t appealing. To save you the time of chasing down all the costumes on offer, we’ve compiled the best costumes in Sackboy: A Big Adventure, and we've shown you how to unlock them below.
What is Sackboy: A Big Adventure?
Sackboy: A Big Adventure is a platformer game that’s a spinoff from the LittleBigPlanet series. Its main character, Sackboy, is also from LittleBigPlanet, now with the chance to star in his own show. The game features pretty vibrant environments with intricately detailed stages and a quirky cast.
Best Costumes (& How to Unlock Them)
When prioritizing which costumes to unlock in Sackboy: A Big Adventure, you want to focus on the best costumes below.
10. Deacon St. John
Sackboy: A Big Adventure is bringing crossover costumes from Sony’s sprawling games calatog. Among them is Days Gone, featuring none other than the main protagonist, Deacon St. John. It’s pretty grand, as Days Gone is often underrated for its pretty engaging gameplay. Now, we can restore relevance to the game via the Deacon St. John costume, which is available now on Sackboy: A Big Adventure. It’s a pretty cute costume, complete with St. John’s backward cap, biker jacket, and even the walkie-talkie he keeps in touch with the folks in Oregon. You can unlock the costume by ordering the Digital Deluxe or Special edition of Sackboy: A Big Adventure to receive it as a bonus.
9. Sumo Wrestler
Sumo Wrestler is a handy costume designed from the pieces you collect in the Wonderplane levels of Sackboy: A Big Adventure. At first, the costume may not seem to have much. However, upon close inspection, you’ll realize that it’s a nod to Sumo Digital, the developer of lots of games, including Sackboy: A Big Adventure and LittleBigPlanet. Plus, the costume has more adorable touches like the belt and eye makeup that add an extra flair. You’ll unlock Sumo Wrestler toward the end of the game when you complete the Wonderplane levels and collect the pieces needed to assemble the costume.
8. Lion
Lions are known to be fierce kings of the jungle, and the lion costume in Sackboy: A Big Adventure does wonders to bring the fearsome character to life. But it’s also a pretty adorable costume that can balance out bravery and pure fun.
By completing The Home Stretch, Cut Above the Rest, and Monkey Business levels in the Second World, The Colossal Canopy, you can collect the mane, lion ears, and lion tail, respectively, finally assembling the lion costume as one of the best costumes in Sackboy: A Big Adventure.
7. Yeti
The yeti is naturally cute as is, with its humanoid and bear hairy features. If you have a soft spot for the creature, you can unlock its parts and assemble it into a cute costume. You’ll collect all the items you need all across the first world, The Soaring Summit, using ordinary items like cardboard and cotton wool for the complete look of your new Yeti.
6. Deep Sea Diver
Sackboy: A Big Adventure has nearly every costume you can think of, including a Deep Sea Diver costume. It’s purely cast iron to protect you underwater, complete with a helmet and body suit. You can unlock the costume in the same way as others.
Simply play through the third world, The Kingdom of Crablantis, to collect all the pieces you need for the costume. Then, they are assembled to get the Deep Sea Diver.
5. Console Kitty
What could be cuter than a kitty costume? A console kitty costume. While the body takes after a cat with paws intact, the head is an actual screen with an antennae and headphones. It’s probably the most unique costume in Sackboy: A Big Adventure.
Oh, and it comes with a pixel heart and bold pink, too. To unlock Console Kitty, you have to collect its parts from the secret area in the colossal canopy. The chest piece, gloves, and tail can be found at the Flossed in Space level in the second world, The Colossal Canopy, or the fourth world, The Interstellar Junction.
Finally, the pants, shoes, and screen can be found in The Struggle is Rail level in the second and fourth worlds, too. Meanwhile, the screen headpiece is unlocked when you hit the high score reward for Flossed in Space.
4. Rock Monster
Part of changing costumes is so that your character can imbue out-of-the-box personalities. With the Rock Monster costume, Sackboy transforms into a rockstar.
It looks pretty badass; a no-brainer for the best costumes in Sackboy: A Big Adventure, with a demonic blood-red design, hooked armor, fangs, and wielding a guitar.
Be sure to collect the parts for this costume in the Choral Reef level in the third world, The Kingdom of Crablantis.
3. Vex
The Vex costume in Sackboy: A Big Adventure is pretty menacing, perfect for facing any foes standing in your way. It tracks, too, given the Vex character is also Sackboy’s main villain.
Once you defeat Vex, you can draw one step closer to taking up the costume for yourself and going on to beat even more enemies. You’ll need to complete the post-game Wonderplane challenges in the bonus world to get your hands on the pieces of the full costume.
2. Electronica
A fun costume you could try with bursting neon colors is Electronica. It’s like a dance floor pressed down and molded into Sackboy’s body frame. Feel free to chase down the parts of Electronica in the One Track Mind level in the fourth world, The Interstellar Junction.
1. Sam
Lastly, we have Sam on the best costumes list in Sackboy: A Big Adventure. Rightfully so, given it’s adapted from the fierce Samuel “Sam” Porter Bridges from Death Stranding.
He’s another Sony crossover character that translates perfectly in Sackboy: A Big Adventure with his Odradek Terrain Scanner and unique design. Like Deacon St. John, you’ll need to buy the Digital Deluxe or Special edition to access Sam’s design as a bonus.
