EvilVEvil

Meeting creatures roaming around with the urge to have a taste of your blood for their survival is quit a thrill. While, in real life, this all seems like another fiction film, video games come in and make it worth the imagination. And with just that, EvilVEvil has risen, paying tribute to vampire games of 2024.

In this game, you become a formidable vampire armed with guns, unique powers, and extensive customization options. As an immense shooter co-op action, the game also introduces the aspect of dark humor, promising you nothing short of a treat. Although the game is already gaining popularity among players, does it really live to its expectation? Join as we unravel the ins and outs of EvilVEvil in this review.

The Vampire’s Tale

EvilVEvil

The story of EvilVEvil centers around a unique breed of vampires known as daywalkers. Unlike the typical vampires, daywalkers can survive in sunlight, making them extremely powerful and even more dangerous. In fact, staunch vampire film fans are already familiar with the idea of vampires who can walk in daylight. And with that, this game brings the adventure home by turning you into one of these dangerous beings.

Under the role of a daywalker vampire, players join the battle teams with the goal of taking down rival vampire factions that threaten the balance of power in the vampire world. The narrative unfolds through a series of missions. Each mission reveals more details about the vampire society’s complex hierarchy and its power struggles. As players progress, they uncover secrets about their origins and the true nature of the vampire curse. The story is rich, providing a deep and immersive experience for those who enjoy dark fantasy themes.

However, while the story is interesting, it lacks depth in character development and emotional connection. The characters can sometimes feel flat, while the plot sometimes relies on familiar ideas without offering new twists. Despite this, the story is still engaging enough to keep you hooked, especially with the game’s amazing cyberpunk setting. Regardless, the devs should get a thumbs up for adapting vampire stories as depicted in films.

Unleash the Evil

Biting an enemy on battle

EvilVEvil shines in its gameplay. From your first click into playgrounds, you’ll get hooked into the fast-paced action and fluid mechanics. The character movement feels smooth and responsive, allowing you to jump, glide, and teleport easily. With this mobility, players obtain a fresh improvement to the usual FPS game mechanics, making each encounter feel dynamic and exciting.

That said, EvilVEvil offers an amazing ability, allowing players to outmaneuver enemies and take them down with a mix of gunfire and special abilities. This becomes possible following its wide range of weapon selections, ranging from pistols and shotguns to rifles and rocket launchers. Each weapon feels unique and satisfying to use. To add sugar to the ice, players can customize their weapons with different mods like scopes and silencers, adding strategy into the gameplay.

The game also offers a solid mix of solo and co-op play. You can tackle missions on your own or team up with friends for some intense co-op action. Notably, each mission offers its own unique challenges and rewards. Playing solo lets you fully immerse yourself in the story and world, while co-op play brings a whole new level of strategy and teamwork.

The variety of game modes keeps things interesting. The Campaign mode is well-structured, with challenging and fun missions. Each chapter introduces new environments and enemies, keeping the gameplay fresh. On the other hand, Survival mode is a great way to test your skills against waves of enemies. So far, the community appreciates the different options that keep them coming back for more.

Missions are relatively short, lasting around 10 to 15 minutes. During these missions, players face waves of enemies, with the difficulty scaling based on the number of players in the session. Ultimately, the fast-paced action stands out strong in EvilVEvil.

Who’s Your Hero

The three heroes of EvilVEvil

Here, players choose from three characters, each with their own special abilities and playstyles. First, there’s Victoria, a fast and deadly assassin. Her main abilities are Shadow Strike, a quick attack that does a lot of damage to one enemy, and Smoke Bomb. The smoke bomb creates a cloud of smoke to help her escape or move to a better position. Victoria is great for players who like to move quickly.

Then you have Mashaka, who is a powerful fire mage. She excels at dealing damage to several enemies at once. Her abilities include Fireball, which explodes and harms all enemies nearby. She also has Flame Teleport, which lets her move quickly while leaving a trail of fire. Mashaka is perfect for players who enjoy controlling the battlefield and damaging groups of enemies.

Lastly, there is Leon, a strong melee fighter who can take a lot of damage. His abilities are Ground Slam, which creates a shockwave that hits nearby enemies. He also possesses the Rage Mode ability, which boosts his damage on enemies while reducing the damage he takes. Leon is ideal for players who like to be in the middle of the action and withstand enemy attacks.

Although each character has unique abilities, they share the same health and damage stats. This makes them feel somewhat similar in terms of overall strength. To make the characters more distinct, the game could give them different stats, such as making Victoria faster but weaker and Leon tougher but slower. Additionally, having more abilities or letting players choose from a variety of skills would make the game more interesting. These changes would help EvilVEvil become even more fun and engaging for players.

The Evil

EvilVEvil

Despite all its strengths, EvilVEvil does have a few drawbacks. First and foremost, the story is rich in details but can be challenging to follow. Its missions reveal bits of the plot, but the story can somehow feel confusing and unclear. Players often need help to understand the main goals and why certain events are essential, which can ultimately digress players from the game’s immersive experience.

Although fun at first, the gameplay can get repetitive quickly. Missions are short, usually lasting about 10 to 15 minutes, and often have similar objectives. This lack of variety can make the game feel boring after a continuous gameplay. Players might then quickly lose interest over time from the inadequate missions or gameplay mechanic varieties.

Unfortunately, the repetitiveness sticks on in certain missions and enemy encounters. While the game offers a variety of environments and enemies, some missions can feel repetitive after a while. The objectives often relate to similar tasks, and the enemy AI can sometimes be predictable. This repetition can lead to moments where the gameplay feels more like a grind than an engaging experience.

In addition, customization and progression systems are limited. While players can unlock new weapons, mods, and artifacts, these upgrades don’t drastically change how the game feels. All characters have the same base health and damage stats, which makes them feel similar. To resolve this, the game developers should add more varied and impactful customization options to keep players more interested in progressing.

The Fun

Aiming at a shoot target

EvilVEvil is all about fast-paced, thrilling action. The game’s smooth controls and responsive mechanics make you feel like a powerful vampire. Jumping, gliding, and teleporting through the cyberpunk world is a blast, and the dynamic movement keeps every encounter exciting.

Combat is the highlight. With a wide range of weapons to choose from. Each gun feels unique and satisfying. With the ability to customize loadout with different mods adds a layer of thrilling strategy into the gameplay. Special vampire abilities like high jumps and teleportation gives you an edge in battle and makes every fight feel fresh and fun.

Additionally, playing with friends in co-op mode is super cool. Coordinating with your team to take down enemies and complete missions brings a new level of strategy into the excitement. EvilVEvil offers endless fun hours with its fast action and unique vampire powers.

The game is designed to be enjoyed with friends, and therefore, cooperative gameplay truly shines. In the multiplayer mode, players must work together to complete missions, strategize on enemy takedowns, and utilize each vampire’s unique abilities. Ultimately, what the game creates is a deeply engaging and fun FPS game experience.

Verdict

EvilVEvil Launch Trailer

In the long run, EvilVEvil is a thrilling journey into a world overrun by vampires in a cyberpunk setting. It blends intense FPS action with supernatural abilities and extensive customization. The game excels in delivering smooth and responsive gameplay, allowing players to navigate through urban landscapes using a variety of weapons and unique vampire powers. The option to team up with friends is also cool, making cooperative play a rewarding experience.

The game’s gameplay mechanics are its most vital aspect. Moving around swiftly while fighting enemies feels exciting. In addition, each weapon and ability brings its own thrill, from jumping across rooftops to customizing guns with different mods.

However, EvilVEvil needs to improve in character development and its narrative progression. The characters lack depth, and the story can sometimes feel repetitive and predictable. Technical issues occasionally disrupt gameplay, but fortunately, they don’t ruin the overall experience.

Now, despite its flaws, EvilVEvil is a captivating choice for players who enjoy fast-paced action and supernatural themes. Its dynamic gameplay and cooperative features make it stand out in vampire FPS games. EvilVEvil proves that a great co-op shooter is all about teamwork, strategy, and having fun together.
