Resident Evil Showcase: What We Know About Village

The Resident Evil Showcase, which aired virtually earlier this evening, has brought us up to speed over the upcoming Resident Evil Village chapter. As expected, the latest instalment to the long-standing zombie series will launch on Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, PS4, PS5 and Windows on May 7th. But that’s not all. In fact, there will be three editions of the upcoming instalment that fans will be able to get their hands on.

As well as the Standard Edtion, Village will also be available as a Digital Deluxe Edition, which will feature various content including higher difficulty settings, extra soundtrack material and The Tragedy of Ethan Winters DLC. And, if that doesn’t satisfy your hunger, then you can also aim for the Collector’s Edition, which includes all of the mentioned extras plus additional artwork, a shiny steelbook and a glorious Chris Redfield figurine. So, plenty to get your hands on.

Anything else?

During the rather short showcase, we were able to get a heavier preview of the game itself, with a virtual tour through some of the village quarters. On top of that, Capcom also teased us with a multiplayer game titled RE:Verse, which, admittedly — looks a tad choppy in its current state. However, with the entire roster of franchise characters reprising their positions on the slate, it might just be worth keeping a close eye on it. After all, seeing as it’s pushing the 25th anniversary of the series — we’re expecting some pretty big things from Capcom.

Storywise, not a great deal has been explained. Of course, we’re aware that Ethan, who we played as during the previous game, will be back again for another round. Chris Redfield, on the other hand, has yet to find the spotlight. But we’ll be keeping a close eye on that. In the meantime, it’s just an enhanced look at the gameplay and a rather cryptic trailer.

Excited yet?
