Post Trauma: Everything We Know
Ever since Capcom’s Resident Evil dropped its fixed cameras and adopted a new style in the early noughties, the former technique has declined in popularity, and has, at least in some eyes, not been worth the effort of resurrecting. That is, unless you’re the Spanish developer Red Soul Games, in which case such a length is more than worth the effort of bringing back. And what better vessel to use for such a vision than Post Trauma, an all-new survival horror game that could—fingers crossed—bring that long overdue punch of nostalgia we’ve all been longing to experience back into production.
Whatever the case, we’re still a ways off from seeing Red Soul Games’ creation come to fruition. Fortunately for us, though, there are still plenty of details to tide us over, especially now that The Game Awards has shed its light on it. And with that said, if you’re interested to learn more about Post Trauma, then be sure to read on.
What Is Post Trauma?

Post Trauma is an upcoming third-person survival horror game by Red Soul Games, an independent developer based in Spain. Its debut chapter, which is yet to receive an official launch window, will resurrect a great deal of the old-school horror features, including fixed camera angles, manual save points, and questionably placed puzzles that are no doubt integral to the narrative. Think Silent Hill 2, but with a major graphics overhaul, and you’re steering towards the right ballpark.
“Dive into the twisted reality of Post Trauma, where survival comes at the cost of unexpected encounters and mysteries,” the official blurb by Raw Fury reads. “Post Trauma is both a tribute to and a modern take on classic horror games, blending old-school fixed camera angles with high fidelity graphics, smooth controls and immersive soundscapes.”
Story

Post Trauma puts you in the boots of Roman, a middle-aged train conductor who’s plunged into a surreal nightmare. As players, you must navigate the warped reality and shovel through a variation of puzzles, labyrinths, and deadly encounters with supernatural beings. Apart from this, not a great deal is know about Post Trauma’s story.
Still, from what we’ve already caught of the horror, it’s apparent that its structure will lean heavily towards its nineties influences. How Roman will play into the two worlds is another question, yet one we’re on tenterhooks to find out when the game eventually launches next year.
Gameplay

We’ll go ahead and acknowledge the elephant in the room here: Post Trauma is a lot like Silent Hill, if not narratively, then graphically, mechanically, and aurally. Clearly, Red Soul Games knew this all too well, which is precisely why the studio fused a lot of its key ingredients into the development of the ones used in Post Trauma. And by that, we’re talking fixed camera angles, distorted audio effects, and disturbingly grotesque beings that flesh out the enemy roster.
Post Trauma, though, won’t just be a spiritual successor to Silent Hill, but a versatile experience that will not only include fixed camera angles, but a web of first-person segments, as well as behind-the-shoulder levels, too. And as far actual gameplay goes, players can expect a mixture of stealth-based and puzzle-solving sections, most of which will revolve around the bread and butter survival horror formula.
“Solve puzzles and riddles with the information you will gather exploring your surroundings to progress in the game and try to explain what is happening to you and the world around you,” Raw Fury notes. “Unravel haunting mysteries and face or escape nightmarish creatures at every turn.”
Development

Post Trauma is being developed by Red Soul Games, an independent studio based over in Valencia, Spain. Raw Fury, its publisher, has partnered with the studio to bring their first game to PC in 2023, which is—shock horror—Post Trauma.
Initially demonstrated in July 2021, Post Trauma received generally favourable reviews for its inclusion of classic survival horror elements as seen in games like Resident Evil, Silent Hill, and Dino Crisis. Since being given the green light, the developer has made plans to bring the game to PC and consoles. It’s unclear whether or not it will be coming to ex-gen consoles in the future. For now, though, it appears to be a PC and next-gen exclusive.
Trailer
So, has Post Trauma received an official announcement trailer yet? Yes, thanks to The Game Awards, which aired on December 8, 2022. You can catch the latest reveal in the embed above.
Release Date, Platforms & Editions

Post Trauma is expected to launch on PC and “consoles” at an undisclosed date in 2023. At the time of writing, you can both follow the updates for the game, and add it to your wishlist over on Steam. For more updates on Red Soul Games’ debut survival horror, you can check in with its official social handle here.
Editions? Nothing other than the bog-standard digital edition on Steam, unfortunately. Of course, this isn’t to say Red Soul Games won’t announce any special or digital deluxe editions closer to the time of release. For the time being, though, there isn’t anything other than the individual digital copy to pick up. Should anything change, we’ll be sure to let you know right here on gaming.net.
