FS23 VS FS25

Different Farming Simulator versions regularly alternate between mobile, console, and PC platforms. Farming Simulator 23 was designed for mobile platforms, which limited some of the game’s best features. Now, Giants Software is preparing to launch the next version: Farming Simulator 25. As usual, it promises to be bigger and better than all previous versions.

Farming Simulator 25 is still in the works. Fortunately, the developers have been generous with details about its features and gameplay, showing what to expect compared to the previous version. Here is a comprehensive comparison of Farming Simulator 23 versus Farming Simulator 25.

What is Farming Simulator 23?

What is Farming Simulator 23?

Farming Simulator 23 is the fourteenth version in the Farming Simulator series. Notably, this version was designed exclusively for mobile platforms, including Nintendo Switch and smartphones. Unfortunately, it lacks some notable features available in the previous versions and limits others, making it a bit disappointing.

Most notably, it features only two limited maps, and you can’t choose how to begin the farming journey. Moreover, you can’t work for other farmers for quick money or take loans to lease or buy equipment. However, it also introduces a few new handy features and retains the game’s core concept and gameplay style. Most notably, crops grow faster and many activities are easier and smoother.

Farming Simulator 25 will be the newest version in the Farming Simulator series, scheduled to launch on 12th November 2024. It will be the fifteenth game in the series, and it will try to push the limits to become the best version yet.

Notably, Farming Simulator 25 is designed for consoles and PCs, unlike Farming Simulator 23. As such, it will contain more features than its predecessor, including those missing from previous versions and new ones never seen before. Most notably, it will feature more maps, crops, animals, machinery, and farming equipment. Moreover, it will feature better graphics and more flexible gameplay activities.

Story

Farming Simulator

Farming Simulator games don’t have much of a background story. They are about farmers working to ensure farming activities run smoothly, make more money, and expand their farms and income streams. Overall, players delve right into the fulfilling and rewarding world of farming.

Crops, Animals & Machinery

Crops, Animals & Machinery

Farming Simulator 23 offers 14 different crops to cultivate. Notably, it introduces three new crops, sorghum, grapes, and olives. Moreover, farmers can also rear a variety of animals, including cows, sheep, and chickens. Players can also work with over 100 machines and equipment (130 machines on Switch and 100+ on mobile) to perform various activities around the farm.

In contrast, Farming Simulator 25 offers more crops, animals, and machinery to work with. Farmers can grow over 20 new crops, including a few new varieties. New crops include spinach and two rice varieties. Interestingly, the official trailer showcases farmers flooding fields to plant the rice. Moreover, the game also introduces water buffalos in addition to other usual animals, including cows, sheep, chickens, pigs, horses, and more.

Additionally, Farming Simulator 25 offers over 400 machines and equipment to work with, about 300+ more than the previous version. They include equipment from some of the world’s leading brands, including Macey Ferguson, New Holland, and John Deere. For example, you can use the Steiger 715 Quadtruck for plowing and the KS AF11 Harvester for harvesting. Interestingly, you can also unlock five new machines in the Macedon bonus pack when you pre-order the game.

Maps

Farming Simulator Maps

When it comes to farming, land is one of the most important components, and having more of it is typically preferable. There are two maps available in Farming Simulator 23, and both of them have a somewhat monotonous sensation and a lack of geographical variety. It is important to note that the landscape appears muddy and unclear, which makes it difficult to study the maps.

In contrast, Farming Simulator 25 features three maps with fertile and beautiful lands. They include a vast North American map and a lush-green Central European map. Moreover, the new version also ventures into East Asia, featuring a huge map complete with rice paddles. It is also worth noting that the developers plan to release another map based in the UK in 2025.

 Farming Simulator Platforms

Platforms

Farming Simulator 23 was specially designed for portable platforms. It is compatible with Nintendo Switch and the iOS and Android operating systems. Notably, the game’s design enhances accessibility and ease of play, which contributes to its downscaled features.

In contrast, Farming Simulator 25 is compatible with larger devices and platforms, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, X|S, and PC. Notably, the new version isn’t compatible with old-gen devices and platforms, which indicates its advanced graphics and extensive content.

Gameplay

Farming Simulator 23 retains the game’s core gameplay concept, which encapsulates the basic activities associated with farming. This involves plowing the land, sowing and planting seeds, applying fertilizer, cultivating the plants, and finally harvesting. Notably, timing is still crucial, as the trick is to plant and harvest during the right season. The core gameplay also involves rearing livestock, feeding and sheltering them, and processing their produce.

However, Farming Simulator 23 also lacks many of the gameplay styles found in the other games. Most notably, you cannot decide how to decide your farming journey (whether to start from scratch or with something) as the game automatically assigns you a few pieces of machinery and equipment and cash. Moreover, you cannot work for other farmers for quick cash or take out loans to buy or lease equipment. The greatest limitation is that you cannot customize your farms and structures.

Unlike Farming Simulator 23, Farming Simulator 25 runs on consoles and PCs instead of portable devices. As such, it will feature more content and activities. The community expects to see all the features stripped from the last game available in the new version.

Verdict

Farming Simulator 23 vs Farming Simulator 25

Understandably, Farming Simulator 23 is a scaled-down version of the overall game because of the mobile platforms. Nevertheless, it has its charms, including easy accessibility and a smooth gameplay style. While Farming Simulator 25 is still under development, it promises to be big and detailed. It will feature new maps, animals, crops, machinery, and graphics designed for new-gen consoles.
