Best Spirits in Black Myth: Wukong

There are 54 spirits in Black Myth: Wukong. Each spirit has active and passive abilities aimed at boosting players’ combat skills and other attributes. These abilities vary from one spirit to the next, with some being better than others. Some Spirits’ abilities also limit players to specific playstyles and scenarios, while others can fit virtually any situation. The bottom line is that some spirits are better than others and are worth prioritizing. Here is a quick overview of the ten best spirits in Black Myth: Wukong.
10. Tiger’s Acolyte

Tiger’s Acolyte transforms the player into a tiger armed with a long sword. The tiger swiftly attacks an enemy, hacking them once, and then retreats for safety by taking a step back. The attack causes considerable damage. However, you should time the attack strategically, considering that you only get one strike. Notably, the attack consumes less Qi than most other Spirits and attacks in Black Myth: Wukong. You can obtain the Spirit in Chapter 2. However, as an Epic Spirit, you must beat the Tiger’s Acolyte Yaoguai Chief to obtain it.
9. Swift Bat

On the list of spirits in Black Myth: Wukong, Swift Bat transforms you into a flying bat that uses its wings to create a strong wind that stirs up gravel and throws it toward enemies. The attack only causes moderate damage. However, the Spirit’s most notable benefit lies in its survivability aspects. Most notably, its equipped effect moderately increases stamina by +10. Stamina is crucial for many activities in the game, such as running, jumping, and attacking. Additionally, flying into the air puts you out of your enemies’ reach, albeit temporarily, which comes in handy when you are low on health.
8. Verdant Glow

Unlike most other spirits in Black Myth: Wukong, Verdant Glow doesn’t help boost your attacks or damage. Instead, it transforms you into a tree that absorbs nature’s essence to help you recover your health continuously but slowly. Interestingly, water enhances the healing effect, which is convenient because most fights in the game are set on water. As such, it is also useful when you deplete your Gourd charges. Health is crucial in the game, and any additional way of recovering it is worth getting. You can obtain the Spirit from a secret area in Chapter 4.
7. Bull Governor

Bull Governor transforms you into a large, strong bull armed with a halberd. You can then charge at your enemies and strike the ground with the halberd, which is red-hot on both edges, to deal Scorch Damage. The hit’s impact causes considerable damage, making this spirit ideal for use against bosses with large health bars. However, getting this spirit takes some time, as it is only available in Chapter 5.
6. Falcon Hermit

Falcon Hermit unleashes a gust of Frosty Wind that deals considerable Frost Damage to everyone within its path. Moreover, it can freeze enemies in place if it lands repeated hits. The Frosty Wind is ideal for crowd control while freezing opens a small window for you to land more hits in your basic form. However, this spirit is quite difficult to obtain because it falls in the Rare category and is hard to locate. However, the power it gives is well worth the trouble.
5. Rat Governor

Rat Governor transforms you into a rat with a staff that shoots lightning. The lightning attacks are ranged, enabling you to maintain some safe distance between you and your enemies, which is especially convenient when you are low on health. Moreover, the attacks cause considerable Thunder Damage, enabling you to take enemies down faster. You can unlock this spirit in Chapter 2 by beating the Stone Vanguard. However, like Rat Archer, Rat Governors can also be challenging to beat.
4. Rat Archer

Rat Archer gives players a quiver full of arrows that they can shoot at enemies in quick succession. The attack causes repeated damage, making it ideal for use against powerful bosses. Moreover, it can stun enemies, thereby limiting retaliation and giving you an opportunity to land even more hits. It is also one of the best-ranged attack abilities, enabling players to attack from a safe distance. The Spirit is especially useful in Chapters 2 and 3. However, it is worth noting that beating Rat Archers can be quite a challenge.
3. Earth Wolf

The Earth Wolf spirit lets a player transform into a large, strong, tanky beast. The idea is to use mass and strength to charge at enemies. The impact is powerful, making the spirit ideal for causing massive damage. Moreover, the spirit’s equipped ability grants you a small number of Focus points for every successful hit. It is one of the most effective ways to build up focus in the game. However, it is also worth noting that the charges are usually reckless, and agile players can evade them given enough distance.
2. Gore-Eye Daoist

Gore-Eye Daoist is one of the most versatile epic spirits in Black Myth: Wukong. You transform into a toad-like creature with a long staff that emits a red glow at the tip. The staff stays fixed in one place, and the red glow increases the intensity of your attacks and damage as long as you stay within its range. Moreover, you can increase the glow’s radius at Rank 4 and its duration at Rank 6. Additionally, the Spirit increases your maximum Mana by +10 at Ranks 1 to 3, by +12 at Ranks 4 and 5, and by +15 at Rank 6.
1. Wandering Wight

Wandering Wight is an optional spirit, but one that is worth having. It gives you a huge bronze head that you can use to ram into your enemies. The impact is powerful enough to kill most low-level enemies with one strike and cause considerable damage to bosses. Besides causing increased damage, Wandering Wight also moderately boosts your Defense stats. Interestingly, the Defense boost depends on your rank. You get +20 Defense at Ranks 1 to 3, +24 Defense at Ranks 4 and 5, and +30 Defense at Rank 6.
