The game features two core modes with varying playstyles. The Bounty Hunt Mode involves tracking and taking down enemies, while the Sould Survivor Mode involves racing to activate features that improve your equipment. You can play with and against other players in the integrated PvPvE modes. Notably, the game is an enhanced and expanded version of the original game Hunt: Showdown.

Enlisted is technically not an extraction shooter, as the game does not penalize players by taking away the gear they collect upon death.
