Arashi Gaiden: Everything We Know

After dropping its fighting competitive game, Pocket Bravery, in August 2023, Statera Studio is back with a new game. Noteworthy, the developers had released Pocket Bravery as a series, and perhaps that’s why they are not terming this new game revelation as its sequel.
This game comes with a fresh title, but with a few similarities that still do not make it fully worth calling it a direct sequel. Introduced as Arashi Gaiden, the title is still an action, turn-based strategy game that seems to have a pretty straightforward gameplay. Assuming the role of a ninja and defeating foes to take back what belongs to your universe is your main goal. To help you understand further what it’s all about, here is everything we know about Arashi Gaiden.
What is Arashi Gaiden?

Arashi Gaiden is a new action video game with a deep focus on combat and strategy. It is the product of a collaboration between Statera Studios and Wired Dreams Studio. However, the publishing role of the game remains solely on Statera Studio. That explains why the game is also part of the same world as Pocket Bravery, Statera Studio’s 2023 release.
Players of Pocket Bravery are bound to note several similarities in Arashi Gaiden’s. The upcoming release is an Indie fighting game with stolen relics that players seek to retrieve, just like the developer’s initial game. Characters from Pocket Bravery’s story also tend to reappear, which makes the upcoming game appear like a Pocket Bravery sequel.
Story

In the land of Pocket Bravery, a criminal gang of ninjas has pulled together to dominate crime in Japan. Named Matilha, the criminal gang in the upcoming title, similar to the Pack in Pocket Bravery, the terrorist group that formed amidst the bizarre phenomenon that struck the world, sets ablaze the fury. They trigger chaos wherever they go by stealing ancient relics and artifacts at the command of their leader.
In Arashi Gaiden, the developers want to expand an important part of the Pocket Bravery’s Japanese core. The Matilha gang took 3 powerful relics, which the Pocket Bravery universe must recover from them. As the brave ninja of the Pocket Bravery land, Arashi gets hired by Lobo, who happens to be his former master. The ronin is now tasked with battling the ninjas and Matilha soldiers to defeat them and recover the three relics from Japan.
Lobo is the man in Pocket Bravery who shares the Kennel with Nuno Alves after Nuno, a former member of the Pack, opposes its leader. He meets Lobo in the Kennel, the captivity hole, and the duo forge an alliance. Lobo mentors Nuno and shows him the ways around the Ichor, the strange force, and how to use it to his advantage. They later manage to escape the Kennel and resolve to take revenge against Hector, the Pack’s boss.
Lobo maintains his revenge mission against the criminal organization in Arashi Gaiden. He hires his former servant, who is now Arashi in the new game and is perhaps Nuno’s new name for the new game.
Gameplay

Immerse yourself in over 5 hours of turn-based strategy combat with fast moves. You are playing as Shinji Arashi, the samurai sent by Lobo to defeat and return the three relics from the Japanese criminal gang. You will fight in frantic dash-and-slash combat to take down all the enemies turn by turn. As the ninja entrusted by Lobo to restore the relics, you face problems of the past while encountering hordes of new enemies, including old acquaintances. Play through the game to uncover Arashi’s full story and his involvement with his old master, Lobo.
Whichever way you like to take your action, the choice is yours to make. After all, you are on a mission that only you can execute. You’ve got the skills and the guts. Organize quick combos or carefully and calmly plan your combat while solving the various challenges with multiple solutions. You will receive multiple power-ups to help you through the combat. Just make sure you use them well in every match. You can also hold short conversations via charts with the enemies before getting into the clash.
For now, it’s still unclear whether Arashi Gaiden supports multiplayer gameplay. However, it’s said that Statera Studio is looking to embed an essential aspect of Pocket Bravery in their new game. Therefore, Arashi Gaiden could also support all the modes in Pocket Bravery, including an offline two-player mode and an online multiplayer mode.
Development

Along with their partner, Wired Dreams Studio, Statera Studio has only revealed a little about their upcoming game. It’s hard to tell when development began or at what stage the game is currently at. However, what is clear is that Arashi Gaiden is based on Statera Studio’s game Pocket Bravery.
It is part of the same universe as Pocket Bravery, expanding the story of a critical part of its Japanese core. The storyline of the 2023 game remains, with a criminal gang of ninjas terrorizing the universe of Pocket Bravery, stealing powerful ancient relics. Although some characters may have their names changed, connecting them with others from the main game is still easy.
Trailer
The developers of Arashi Gaiden announced the title along with a trailer that gives a good sneak peek into the game’s environment. The 01:33 minutes trailer lets you see everything from the characters and the fast-paced action they engage in. You can feel the soundtrack, which blends well with the speed of the turn-based action. You will also get a glimpse of the chat conversations between your playable characters and the enemies. But it’s more of a provocation that only fuels rage for the action about to unfold. You can watch the trailer on Arashi Gaiden’s page on Steam.
Release Date & Platforms

Fans will have to wait until 2025 to catch the indie action game Arashi Gaiden. The development team announced the game will launch for PC via Steam sometime next year.
