Tenet of The Spark — Everything We Know

Avatar photo

Imagine a crossover between Egyptian and Viking mythology. One minute you’re fighting in Pharaonic Egypt; the next, you’re in an immersive Norse world, striking foes down with your mighty hammer. Now place this crossover against a Marvel Comics backdrop, let’s say Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Crazy right? Well, not too crazy for ambitious developers, ZHEESHEE studio.

This is the concept behind their upcoming game, Tenet of the Spark. The developers recently announced the new title, showcasing stylish and colorful combat in different dimensions. Clearly, this is not your everyday fighting game. While most games go to greater lengths to deliver impressive mechanics and techniques, Tenet of the Spark raises the bar with its one-of-a-kind play style. An idea that would appear outstanding on paper but be nearly impossible to execute, ZHEESHEE studios is shunning the naysayers. So is this game worth your dime and time? Let’s find out below. Here’s everything we know about the Tenet of the Spark.

What is Tenet of the Spark?

Tenet of The Spark

Tenet of the Spark is an upcoming fighter indie game by ZHEESHEE studios. The studio is breaking new ground with this title, having mostly specialized in computer graphics and video advertising. Needless to say, with this kind of expertise, we could be looking at stunning visual displays on top of impressive gameplay. If the studio’s previous projects are anything to go by, I am certainly optimistic about the game’s backdrop.

Moreover, it may seem like developers are tight-lipped on dishing out more details about the game. But this could hint that the game is still in its early development stages.

Story

The plot of Tenet of the Spark revolves around a boxer who sustains an injury while in the ring. The injury appears to be a blessing in disguise since it creates a link between the boxer and the powers of the ancient ancestors. His newly found skill lets him traverse between dimensions of reality in real-time.

Below is the game’s description from the developer’s website:

“An opponent, pressure from stands and feeling of fear make young boxer doubt his abilities. Once his ancestors from past times and various cultures found themselves in a hopeless situation. They face a choice – to give up or overcome the fear and move forward.”

Gameplay

The upcoming title is a stealth and story-driven game. The protagonist will fight foes in different realities, experiencing new characters and varying environments. From the trailer, we see the boxer shifting from one reality to fully engaging in combat in another. The swift transformation refreshes the play style, veering players away from dull and repetitive action. The switch lets you change your combat style from hand-to-hand combat to shooting and stealth.

Ideally, the player must unlock an ancestor to transcend to another reality. Presumably, this happens after defeating specific enemies and going up a level. Once you accomplish this, a UI layout pops out, displaying the player’s unlocked ancestors. From the look of things, players may have access to four ancestors since the layout shows four slots.

Once you select an ancestor, you’re immediately thrust into a different realm. With no need for an introduction, you swoop right into the action. The background also seamlessly transforms, fully immersing you in another dimension.

Furthermore, this is a game that will appeal to comic book lovers. The developer integrates mechanics mostly witnessed in the comic themes, such as swoosh lines that appear when the protagonist throws a punch.

Moreover, we see ZHEESHEE’s expertise in play with a display of different eye-catching environments.

Development

As stated, Tenet of the Spark is the first game project for ZHEESHEE Studios. The team comprises creative and talented minds who dabble in creating 2D and 3D animations, CGI VFX, and an array of video content. ”We are an ambitious team creating amazing stories,” reads the team’s description on their website

Much of their expertise lies in producing graphically stunning commercials for bigwigs, including Thunderobot, Yandex.Station, and Dodo Pizza. The team was also behind the visual feast trailer for Taonga Island Adventure, the mobile game, and Rush Royale.

Speculatively, the surreal simulation and landscape imagery would only be possible using Unreal Engine, although the developers have yet to share more notes on the technology behind the game’s development.

Trailer

Tenet Of The Spark Gameplay

The developers are yet to release the game’s official trailer. All we have to go by is a 20-second tech demo that showcases the gameplay. Thankfully, last year, ZHEESHEE Studios also released a short film, “The Spark”. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that the film is the premise of the upcoming title. The 2-minute 10-second video in trailer format shows different characters engaging in high-octane fighting action in different zones. This means different levels will require the players to switch styles.

Undeniably, it is a feast for the eyes, with its jaw-dropping graphics and showcasing captivating gameplay that will have you hooked on end.

Release Date, Platforms & Editions

Tenet of The Spark

Tenet of the Spark will be launching on PC and consoles. Although there’s no exact date for when this will be. It’s safe to assume the game is in its early development stage, and we could hope to hear from the studios later in the year.

As far as editions are concerned, the game’s popularity will likely dictate how that goes. As an independent title, it’s not unusual for developers to release editions years after the game drops.
