Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl Install Size Will Consume Your Xbox Series S, Apparently

After fourteen years in the pipeline, GSC Game World will finally lift the lid on the highly anticipated sequel to S.T.A.L.K.E.R., titled Heart of Chernobyl. The good news is, well, it’s coming out in April 2022. The bad news, however, is that it will likely consume your hard drive space on day one. Yay.

It’s not uncommon these days, of course, to have enormous installation files thrown at us left, right and centre. However, considering the bite-sized Xbox Series S only lets slip a minor 512GB SSD and a total of 364GB for games — it sort of makes the following punch feel a little bit, I don’t know — sturdier. Why? Well, because according to The Gamer, the link that originally spotted the file size on the Xbox Store, the Heart of Chernobyl sequel is shaping up to be a whopping 180GB all in.

Sorry, SSD

Of course, the latest generation of Xbox consoles aren’t exactly known for folding under pressure when it comes to hefty files, so that’s a consolation prize if anything. The bad news for the owners of the digital version, though, is that the game will eat half of your space up. But then, considering fans have been waiting over a decade for the sequel to arrive — perhaps that isn’t a problem for most.

It’s 2021, so 180GB doesn’t seem like that much these days. And yet, we can’t help but feel sorry for those poor little Series S units around the world. Sigh. Oh well. Bite the bullet, I guess.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl will launch on Xbox Series X/S and PC in April 2022. It is expected to be released on PS5 approximately three months after its launch date. You can pre-order the game today and follow any updates over on the official social handle here.
