Seven Deadly Sins: Origin – Everything We Know
It was only a matter of time before The Seven Deadly Sins transitioned from manga and anime to gaming. And so far, so good, at least from the trailer reveal. If you can believe it, the art style is so gorgeous cinema, it’s plenty better than the anime itself. And that just scratches the surface of the open-world adventure Netmarble plans to take us on.
We could be looking at an exploration journey, possibly as deep as The Legend of Zelda, enthralling gameplay as Genshin Impact, and emotional storytelling as the Tales series. All are pretty big shoes to fill, I admit. But hey, in the development stage, anything is possible. While Netmarble gets its ducks in a row, we’ve gathered all we could find about the upcoming game. Here’s everything we know so far about Seven Deadly Sins: Origin.
What is Seven Deadly Sins: Origin?

Seven Deadly Sins: Origin is an upcoming open-world, role-playing game. It adapts the manga and anime series of the same name, widely known to fans, with the manga selling over 55 million copies worldwide. Many of the characters and environments will be similar to the source material. However, Netmarble does promise a reimagined world of Britannia.
The new game will tell a brand-new story, too, following Prince Tristan of Liones’ quest to save his kingdom from destruction. After time and space collide, resulting in catastrophic events throughout Britannia, it’s up to you and your friends to journey across the world and broker peace and order back to your home.
Story

Seven Deadly Sins: Origin takes place in the fantasy open world of Britannia. It’s a world “faithfully recreated” from the original anime. And so, you can expect to explore familiar environments, reimagined for the modern console. From the screenshots and preview videos so far, Britannia looks appetizing. The colors shine bright, bursting through the screen with boldness and delight. It’s like a fairytale you’ll be able to step into, immersing yourself in an epic adventure.
The brand-new story for Seven Deadly Sins: Origin will feature Prince Tristan of the Kingdom of Liones. When his kingdom descends into ruin after time and space mysteriously collide, he sets forth on an epic adventure to restore order to Britannia.
Gameplay

Seven Deadly Sins: Origin is an open-world, action, RPG, first and foremost. However, it does conform to more gaming genres, including massively multiplayer online (MMO) games. This means you can access the game for free, and via online PvP or co-op mode, with in-game chat enabled. However, you can choose to stick to the single-player option if you like. Being free-to-play will possibly come with its “downsides.” For instance, the game will have in-game purchases, hopefully not too rampant to be annoying.
Exploration
The first element on the gameplay list is embarking on an exciting adventure. This will lead you down unexpected paths, exploring a dynamic Britannia. You’ll uncover secrets, fight formidable monsters, and enjoy the beauty of traversing jaw-dropping landscapes. Your fighters will be a team of unlikely heroes, with diversity in abilities and backgrounds. While some are fan-favorites you’ve known from the manga and anime, a few will surprise you; all assembled across timelines and dimensions.
Combat
Narrowing it down further, combat in Seven Deadly Sins: Origin will be fast-paced and occur in real-time. It’ll demand strategy to defeat the formidable monsters thrown at you. You can take them down in varied ways, whether physical punches and kicks, casting flashy magic attacks seen in the trailer, or conjuring special abilities. You can wield swords against opponents, but also use sorcery, resulting in a delightful mix of weapons and combos.
As mentioned, each hero has distinct abilities and fighting styles. But they also have unique tricks up their sleeves, and it’s up to you to optimize their customization and builds to enjoy rewarding and satisfying combat. Since Seven Deadly Sins: Origin promises a “diverse roster,” you’ll likely be unlocking new characters throughout the game, discovering new personalities, abilities, and progression paths. Plus, the characters will sync well with the ongoing story.
Side Activities
Seven Deadly Sins: Origin’s world seems full of quests and side activities to do. For one, you can branch off the main quest and go fishing, cook delicious meals, or just run around and explore the world with your friends tagging along. And as you explore, you’ll likely run into surprising events like hidden dungeons to conquer. These will offer rare treasures that help you progress. Overall, you’ll explore and immerse yourself in a multiverse and dynamic world, where your to-do list will rarely lack something fun to complete.
Development

Developer and publisher Netmarble is working on Seven Deadly Sins: Origin. They have revealed the first trailer for the game so far. And it looks damn juicy and good. Right now, they’re calling on all interested parties to pre-register for the game via their official website. Alternatively, you can add the game to your PlayStation 5 wishlist.
According to a dev post on Steam, it’s been six years since development began. They reveal that they add “fresh combat styles never seen in the original series.” As well as revealing more details on the gameplay, like wielding three different weapons at the same time, and collecting unique and charming pets. Do stay tuned, giving feedback to help bring the final product to the quality it deserves.
Trailer
One of the standout observations fans have made about the recent trailer reveal at the Summer Game Fest 2025 is that the visuals look so breathtaking, it’s ten times better than the anime itself. That’s a lot of praise Netmarble will need to live up to. “It’s absolute cinema,” says one viewer.
Release Date, Platforms, & Editions

Seven Deadly Sins: Origin is slated for launch in 2025. Even though that’s this year, we still do not have an exact release date. We do have confirmation on the platforms, including PlayStation 5, PC (via Steam), iOS, and Android. However, the editions, despite Netmarble’s call to pre-register for the new game, are unknown.
Evidently, a lot of information remains under wraps for now. One way, though, you can stay up to date on any new updates is to follow the official social media channel.
