What is Rota’s Nautical Chronicles of Trade?

Rota’s Nautical Chronicles of Trade is an upcoming city-building and trade simulation game. It plans to feature pixel and anime art styles. While you may encounter familiar city-building elements, the upcoming game plans to add a new “trade” system. The latter will incorporate the production of different goods. It’ll require setting up seamless import and export of said goods. Moreover, you’ll engage in “business negotiation battles,” spicing up everyday life at the harbor. The developing team promises a compelling world setting, with exciting characters and creative scenarios to keep your experience flawlessly fun.
Story

Taking the role of Rota, the princess of Forest Kingdom, you’ll embark on a wild adventure building and managing a successful sea trade business. Your goal is to create a thriving import/export business that impacts the entire world. The import business hasn’t always been non-existent in the Rosecania continent. In fact, the place garnered its wealth from importing goods from various countries, processing them and exporting them for profit.
However, the king of a neighboring country imposed a heavy tariff that crippled the overland trade in your kingdom. So, to save your kingdom’s businesses, you set up a new trade at the port town called Portamare. You’ll start small, importing goods via ships from various countries. The goal is to build Portamare into a thriving port that revives Rosecania back to the wealthy continent it used to be, and restores Forest Kingdom as a whole.
Gameplay

Rota’s Nautical Chronicles of Trade revolves around three main gameplay features. You’ll need to set up production chains that create a constant supply of goods at the port. These will need you to gather raw materials. You’ll also set up import and export channels. At some point, you’ll need to master strong negotiation skills to come out on top of “business negotiation battles.”
For the latter, you can choose to conduct negotiations by yourself or you can make good use of merchants who have the best negotiation skills. The goal is to import goods at the cheapest price possible and sell exports at the best prices. Rare goods can be sold at higher prices, for example. However, you’ll also have farmers and sailors, who’ll need you to manage their diverse skills. Additionally, you’ll build different buildings for various purposes, including production of goods, import and export of goods.
All the trading activities will take place at the port by sea using ships. Ships will vary in size, with larger ships carrying more goods. The more countries you trade with, the more facilities you’ll need. Portamare, too, will grow in population, with people from other countries choosing to make the port their new home. To assess your progress, there’ll be a ranking event once a year. It’ll assess how much progress you make on Portamare. It’s unclear whether this will include rankings of other online players, or whether there’ll be a multiplayer option for that matter.
Characters in Rota’s Nautical Chronicles of Trade don a cute pixel anime art style. They’ll move around the port, “muttering to themselves.” But there’ll also be tourists who visit your upcoming town.
