Capcom has finally revealed the release date for the long-awaited Resident Evil 4 remake.

The redesigned version of Capcom’s survival horror classic was revealed at the State of Play event with an eye-catching teaser. The developer is creating a remake of the 2005 game with a target of achieving a “state-of-the-art quality for a survival horror game suited for 2023.” The remake will, however, keep the original’s core while giving it a new vibe.

As predicted, we saw a lot of Resident Evil 4 -style locales in the trailer. But, it was also evident that this is a slightly different remake, with a lot of things that seemed brand new.

“We aim to make the game feel familiar to fans of the series, while also providing a fresh feeling to it,” Capcom wrote in a blog post.

Capcom is accomplishing this by reinventing the game’s plot while maintaining the game’s overall direction, upgrading the visuals, and bringing the controls up to date.

The game takes place six years after a disaster occurs in Racoon City. Leon S. Kennedy is enlisted to save the president’s daughter, who had been kidnapped in a creepy town with even creepier occupants. When he follows her to a remote European town, he quickly discovers that something is seriously wrong with the locals.

The developers will reimagine this iconic storyline with a few changes. Scenes with hero Leon S. Kennedy meeting the US President, for example, were not in the original Resident Evil 4. However, they do appear in the Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness CGI series.

Capcom has previously developed and released modern remakes of Resident Evil 2 (2019) and Resident Evil 3 (2020) and now Resident Evil 4

The game will be available on Xbox consoles, PC, and PS5, with PS VR2 content also in development. Capcom will release the Resident Evil 4 remake on March 24, 2023.
