Activision Announces Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Reveal Date in New Teaser Trailer

Activision has published a teaser trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The trailer, which highlights some of the game's features was released ahead of the official world reveal of the game. 

The teaser trailer comes some days after the game's initial reveal, which offered us the first glimpse at some of the returning characters and the artwork that would be used in the game, as well as the game's release date. In the teaser trailer, those characters reappeared, but it only gave us a taste of what's to come.

While the trailer did not reveal the gameplay, the trailer shows live-action versions of the same characters and reveals the date for the full gameplay reveal.

The trailer is brief and shrouded in shadow, showing just snippets of the core team on their way to combat. The phrase “The Ultimate Weapon is Team” appears next, followed by confirmation of the gameplay reveal date. Activision will reveal the gameplay on Wednesday, June 8 starting at 10 a.m. PT. The previous teaser strongly hinted with an unsubtle “J-8-22” strewn across one part of the scenery.

The reveal date is just a day before Summer Game Fest Live. This implies that the reveal will have its event. The details of how long the event will be or the modes the developers will discuss remain unclear. 

According to Infinity Ward art director Joel Emslie in a blog post, Modern Warfare 2 is one of the most “ambitious, beautiful, bombastic, melt-your-face-off game Infinity Ward has ever created.”

He also continues to say that Modern Warfare 2 is the “studio's magnum opus” and the type of game he has been yearning to be a part of his career. 

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Release Date

Modern Warfare 2 will launch for PC and consoles on October 28. Infinity Ward is developing the game and is reportedly centered on Colombian drug cartels. According to leaks, the developers are also working on a beta mode, which PlayStation users will have initial access to.
