Marvel Mystic Mayhem: Everything We Know

When you see the lineup Marvel has in store for their newest mobile tactical RPG, you’ll doubtlessly hold your breath for launch day. We’re on the verge of controlling the most unexpected and thrilling character roster yet. The likes of Sleepwalker, Black Knight, Juggernaut, and Armor will star in the game. Furthermore, Nightmare will be the primary antagonist. It’s evident Marvel is switching up the flow with surprising twists and turns, and we just can’t wait to get our hands on the final product. Before then, though, here is everything we know about MARVEL Mystic Mayhem so far.

What is Marvel Mystic Mayhem?

Marvel_Mystic_Mayhem

MARVEL Mystic Mayhem is an upcoming all-new Marvel superhero team-based tactical RPG game. It’ll launch on mobile platforms only and looks like a successor of Marvel’s Midnight Suns. At center stage will be Nightmare, starring as the main villain able to infiltrate the minds of some of the most badass heroes in the Marvel universe.

Nightmare will seek to tap into the deepest fears of characters like Doctor Strange, Sleepwalker, and more heroes and villains. Nightmare’s power will be so earth-shattering that it’ll begin to warp reality and pose an impending threat to the waking world.

If you’re worried about how much the game will cost, you’ll be happy to know that Marvel plans to launch the game as a free-to-play title. This means there’ll likely be a gacha system, perhaps collecting and trading hero cards. It’s unsurprising that Marvel will take this route, especially with the multiple free-to-play mobile hero collector games they’ve released in the past.

Story

Dr. strange

We know very little of the story, which doesn’t seem to take the profound route. All we know is that the primary antagonist will be Nightmare, often described as the lord of dreams. The Marvel villain, Nightmare, hasn’t always been the most obvious go-to when it comes to antagonists. However, his announcement as MARVEL Mystic Mayhem’s lead does stir up excitement over how he’ll be able to influence other heroes and villains to do his bidding.

Nightmare has the power to influence people’s minds. He often taps into your inner fears and uses them against you. His agenda is to possess as many iconic superheroes as he can, eventually becoming the dominant force in the Marvel Universe. While Nightmare is lord over the Dream Dimension, his invasion of minds may possibly give him power over the waking world.

You can look forward to an exciting roster of heroes and villains from the Marvel universe. From popular characters like Captain America to lesser-known ones like Moon Knight, the upcoming game plans to be abounding with both heroes and villains. All the characters on offer will be at the risk of Nightmare’s influence, revealing their innermost fears and taking us through dangerous dungeons.

However, Doctor Strange and Sleepwalker rise up against Nightmare, rallying the other heroes and villains to join forces and fight back. Thanks to the power of the Mindscape, you can infuse your character with dream energy and control them in three-hero battle teams. From one character’s terrifying nightmare to the next, gradually, you’ll begin to redeem the waking world and restore reality.

Gameplay

Marvel Mystic Mayhem

The gameplay of MARVEL Mystic Mayhem is a tactical RPG. It’s team-based, charging you with grouping three of your favorite superheroes. All battles will take place in the Marvel Universe. However, the battle areas will vary based on the current character’s harrowing nightmare. It’s highly likely, too, that the skills and abilities of each character will be from their films or comic counterparts, if not inspired by them. We’ll keep an eye out for more details on the key gameplay elements you can expect and let you know as soon as we know more.

Development

NetEase Games and Marvel Games are partnering up to bring to you MARVEL Mystic Mayhem sometime soon. NetEase is a renowned developer and publisher of video games. They’ve worked on plenty of games, from Life After, Identity V, and Once Human. Most importantly, they have extensive work on mobile games, some of which include Blood Strike: FPS for All, Super Mecha Champions, Knives Out, and more. These will no doubt impact the development of the new game, carrying over experience and expertise designing games for mobile.

According to Haluk Mentes, General Manager at Marvel Games, “NetEase has brought a fresh perspective, and we hope players will love the unique style and gameplay within the mysterious and supernatural world of MARVEL Mystic Mayhem.” You can already spot the distinct aesthetic of the upcoming game in the trailer. Both the character designs and environments stand out with a mystic vibe. Hopefully, development will run smoothly through the last stretch.

MARVEL Mystic Mayhem’s announcement trailer is currently out on YouTube. It’s rather sketchy on the gameplay. However, it makes up for it by diving deeper into the characters you can look forward to. Meanwhile, we do catch glimpses of the Marvel universe, alongside the distinct art style and character design NetEase Games plans to use. Now, this is, of course early footage that may look different from the final game. However, it helps give you a rough idea of the roadmap NetEase and Marvel plans to follow.
