Life Is Strange: Reunion — Everything We Know
She’s back. Yup, Chloe, for yet another story about love and friendship. Yet another nostalgic ride that will finally bring to a close Max and Chloe’s story. It’s the final entry that will have us say goodbye to these two lovely souls. So, definitely worth keeping tabs on. And it won’t be that long before you can check out the finale. Just a few weeks to go, with the preorders already live now. Today, we’re looking at everything we know about the upcoming Life Is Strange: Reunion.
What is Life Is Strange: Reunion?

Can you believe it? It’s been 11 years since Life Is Strange came out. That’s an even longer time than Stranger Things. And for most of the ones who played the first game, we’re well into a new age bracket, teens to young adults, perhaps older. I love conclusions, though, especially ones that do justice to fan-favorite characters and relationships. So, I’m hopeful that Life Is Strange: Reunion, the upcoming adventure game in the Life Is Strange series, will give us the closure we deserve.
Don’t Nod is long gone from the franchise, after they developed the original game and the sequel. Now, Deck Nine has picked up the mantle, along with Square Enix. And they plan to tell Max and Chloe’s climactic story, featuring the fate of Caledon. Definitely lots of difficult decisions to come. I’m already anxious about the possibility of having to decide between saving Chloe or Caledon all over again.
Interestingly, you’ll be able to control either Max or Chloe, following their individual paths that intertwine. It’ll be an all-new story, which will wrap up their love and friendship in an epic climax. After a devastating fire wipes out all of Caledon University, Max and Chloe will be forced to make some life and death decisions that will determine the fate of Caledon and their future together.
Story

Life Is Strange: Reunion picks up after Max Caulfield has lost Chloe Price. But Chloe comes back to life through a wrinkle I hope the new game will explain. She arrives at Caledon University, battling nightmares and memories she can’t explain. On the other hand, Max also has problems of her own. She knows that in three days, a devastating fire will destroy all of Caledon University, along with her friends and faculty.
Max retains her rewind supernatural power, which she uses to travel back in time. Rewind buys Max three days to figure out how to stop the fire. But she’ll need the help of Chloe and her friends. This’ll lead to another rollercoaster ride, making life and death decisions that determine Max and Chloe’s future together before everything goes up in flames.
Gameplay

Life Is Strange has always been a third-person episodic narrative, classified in the adventure gaming genre. It’s heavily story-based, with choice-based narratives that carry impactful consequences. Through Max’s superpower, players could also rewind time. This structure holds true in the upcoming Life Is Strange: Reunion. Except this time, you’ll be unraveling the epic climax to the decade-long Max and Chloe saga.
You’ll control both Max and Chloe, their paths intertwining in the grand determining of the fate of Caledon and their own love/friendship story. Max will rewind time, which will allow you to undo and redo your decisions and potentially change the outcome of conversations and the story. You’ll also have four-dimensional puzzles to solve by manipulating the environment.
Meanwhile, Chloe will also have the ability to talk her way out of (and through) certain situations. She can convince NPCs to reveal secrets, which will be helpful in understanding the full length of her nightmares and memories she can’t recall happening to her.
With regards to the fire, you’ll investigate its cause and try to stop it. But as Life Is Strange fans can attest to, it’s nigh impossible to save everyone you care about. And so, you may have to make tough choices on who survives.
And you know the songs are going to be absolute bangers, with an original OST and licensed tracks, both from back in the day and new ones, planned for the new release.
Development

Deck Nine developer and Square Enix publisher will be bringing us Life Is Strange: Reunion, which seems geared toward fans of the original to finally wrap up Max and Chloe’s saga. The series’ brand manager says how it’ll be interesting for fans to reconcile their previous choices. Perhaps you chose to save Chloe over Arcadia Bay? Perhaps you chose for Max and Chloe to be more than friends? The relationship between Chloe and Max will be the core experience, built on top of the fight and race to stop the devastating fire at Caledon University.
Trailer
Life Is Strange: Reunion’s announcement trailer is out now, and it sure does reveal a ton about what’s to come. Max uses a selfie she took three years back to travel back in time. And this gives her time to investigate the cause of the fire at Caledon. But then, Chloe reappears. And some of the mystery behind her rebirth makes sense from Double Exposure. But Reunion will still need to push for the stars when it comes to giving Max and Chloe’s saga an entertaining last hurrah.
The other NPCs, Safi, Moses, Amanda, and Vinh, don’t have much information about them, but I’m sure they’ll influence the story in more ways than one.
