Disney Pixel RPG: Everything We Know

Well, if naming games couldn’t get any more straight to the point: Disney Pixel RPG is self-explanatory. Yet the simplistic naming aside, it may very well provide lots of worthwhile gaming sprees for fans of the dreamy Mickey Mouse universe. The game’s pixel art style will pay tribute to classic games, bringing back a heavy stream of nostalgia. But it’ll also add smooth, modern RPG mechanics we can’t wait to try. In preparation for the launch day, read on to learn everything we know about the upcoming Disney Pixel RPG.

What is Disney Pixel RPG?

Mickey mouse, minnie mouse

Disney Pixel RPG is an upcoming mobile casual RPG adventure game set in the Disney universe. It’ll cast characters from Disney in pixel art form, across a dreamlike adventure for the books. The game’s app store page builds anticipation for the new game, citing “unexpected encounters” as part of the entree you can expect in the final game.

So, what’s the game about? Well, it’s an adventure that lets you control Disney characters who embark on wild adventures. Some of the characters you can expect include Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, Pooh, Ariel, Aladdin, Aurora, Maleficent, Stitch, and many more fan-favorites.

Disney Pixel RPG’s app store page assures us that the adventure will be a brand-new tale, featuring a world we’ve never seen before. And while the characters may be familiar, they will receive “new looks” that draw inspiration from board and rhythm games, as well as other genres out there.

Story

Disney Pixel RPG’s story will kick off as usual, with a disaster looming in the Disney universe. Out of nowhere, gooey monsters invade several worlds. They wreak all manner of havoc, causing previously separate worlds to collide into one another. As a result, characters from different Disney stories run into each other. All the while, chaos erupts throughout the universe.

You’ll control different Disney characters as you strive to save the universe. This’ll send you galavanting from world to world, unraveling an epic adventure. In the end, you’ll team up with other Disney characters to restore peace and order to the universe.

Gameplay

Disney Pixel RPG

Get ready to get your hands dirty, as you battle against hostile enemies that have invaded several Disney worlds. Disney Pixel RPG’s app store page relays that battles will be simple and fun for every gamer to enjoy. Moreover, they’ll be fast-paced, featuring different Disney characters with different abilities. Using simple commands, you can direct your chosen character on what move to execute.

But you can also switch to auto mode, which allows characters to fight on their own. Presumably, auto mode will be in the form of a turn-based combat system that allows you to string together commands and watch them unfold.

While the battle system seems to favor a family-friendly audience, more skilled RPG gamers can also enjoy a deeper combat system. You can use conniving tactics to defeat the enemy, with attack, defend, and skill commands to plan out your victory.

Meanwhile, you’ll be free to customize your chosen character’s avatars. You’ll select hairstyles and outfits that express your personal styles. Disney Pixel RPG will feature Disney-themed outfits, giving you wide-ranging options to switch up your style.

As for expeditions, you’ll be free to collect valuable items along your journey. These will act as upgrades for your characters’ abilities. You can set up the gathering of power-ups to roll on automatically while you are away. As the app store page phrases it, “Pixelated Disney characters can explore the game worlds even when you’re not playing.” As a result, you’ll always have new items to tinker around with when you boot up the game for repeated playthroughs.

In summary, prepare for a casual RPG with a cute art style that combines characters from Mickey & Friends, Tangled, Sleeping Beauty, Aladdin, Peter Pan, Lilo & Stitch, The Little Mermaid, and many more of your favorite Disney films.

GungHo Online Entertainment, headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan, is currently working on the Disney Pixel RPG game. They have decided to take the path less traveled and design an 8-bit RPG adventure. The game will allow you to use simple touch controls to control Disney characters across interconnected worlds. Among the games GungHo Online Entertainment has developed include RPG, Puzzle & Dragons, MMORPG, Ragnarok Origin, battle action, Ninjala, survival action, Let it Die, and card battle, Teppen. Evidently, the studio has a wealth of experience in the field, with millions of downloads in Japan and the US.

It’s official. Disney Pixel RPG will be launching on September 9, 2024. While it’s only a few weeks away, the launch will only be viable in Japan. In a press release, GungHo president and CEO, Kazuki Morishita, confirmed the new game will launch in 18 countries and regions. However, it’s currently unclear when exactly the international release will be. Still, you can pre-order the game as early as now via Google Play Store and App Store.

Being a mobile game, the upcoming game will only be available on iOS and Android platforms. You’ll need iOS 17.0 or later or Android 9.0 or later with a RAM of 4 GB or more to play the game. Thankfully, GungHo has optimized the game for tablets too, allowing you to play seamlessly on a bigger screen without compromising on quality. Given that it’ll be a mobile release, it’s unsurprising that the game will be free-to-play. However, do note that it’ll incorporate microtransactions, hopefully in a bearable amount.

As we remain in the dark about when Disney Pixel RPG’s international release will be, you can keep busy by following the official social handle here. That way, you can keep track of new updates. Meanwhile, we’ll keep our eyes peeled for new information and let you know as soon as it comes up.
