Elixir Games’ RoboKiden (formerly known as Project ST) is on the verge of releasing on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC. That’s right, the rebranding is almost over, as is the wait for the brand-new in-game token, KIDEN. To learn a bit more about the upcoming MOBA title that’s due to launch via the Avalanche blockchain, we decided to reach out to Elixir Games CEO, Carlos Roldan.

Thanks for taking the time to speak with us! For our reader’s sake, please could you introduce yourself? Who are you, and what position do you currently hold at Elixir Games?

Carlos: Hello, and thank you for having me. My name is Carlos Roldan, and I am the CEO and Founder of Elixir Games. At Elixir Games, I lead our talented team as we develop innovative gaming experiences that push the boundaries of what’s possible in the gaming world and we aim to build the one-stop platform for all gamer needs.

Let’s talk about your recent acquisition of RoboKiden. What inspired the team to branch out to this third-person party shooter, in particular?

Carlos: Over the last years, there’s been a growing demand for engaging, cooperative multiplayer games. We also wanted our flagship game to have an appealing formula and aesthetics that could please many types of gamers and audiences. RoboKiden, with its blend of TPS, COOP, and MOBA elements, offers a fresh and exciting take on the party shooter genre with vibrant graphics, dynamic gameplay, and enough strategic depth to keep players engaged for many hours. Partnering with Avalanche for the release of the game on their blockchain is just wonders for us.

For those who’ve yet to consider embarking on their own journey in RoboKiden, how would you describe it? What’s the story here, and how exactly will players fit into the overarching narrative?

Carlos: RoboKiden is an exhilarating team-based action game where players control objectives in a battle arena and get the chance to use their own mecha in 10-minute matches, blending third-person shooter, cooperative gameplay, and MOBA elements. Set in a world where Bots, reprogrammed for entertainment, led to the chaotic sport of RoboKiden, players join characters like Ishani and Armando to revive the game and bring fun back to Monotopia. Utilizing wacky weapons, bots, and strategic gameplay, players become part of the underground movement to reignite the thrilling RoboKiden matches.

Tell us a bit about the NFTs that’ll feature in RoboKiden. What sorts of perks and rewards will players be able to acquire from playing the game?

Carlos: RoboKiden’s NFTs offer significant utility by generating $KIDEN currency through gameplay. Players can equip up to nine different NFTs per match, including Troopers, Bots, celebratory actions, and more. The ability to combine three NFTs of the same type and rarity to evolve them into a higher rarity NFT by paying an amount of $KIDEN introduces an exciting layer of strategy. Higher rarity NFTs generate more $KIDEN, enhancing your in-game rewards. These NFTs not only enhance your rewards but also add cosmetic value to your collection, allowing for a personalized gaming experience.

The primary in-game currency, $KIDEN, will also play a crucial role in players’ progression. How will users be able to obtain $KIDEN to unlock additional NFTs?

Carlos: Players can earn $KIDEN tokens through engaging gameplay, completing challenging quests, and participating in events, competitions, and tournaments. With your earned tokens, you can purchase loot boxes containing NFTs of varying rarity and utility. For those who prefer a direct approach, NFTs can also be acquired from the marketplace. As a free-to-play player, you will also be able to trade some of these assets you unlock for $KIDEN, ensuring that your efforts in the game can translate into real value.

Care to share any useful tips on finding a foothold in RoboKiden? Are there any dos or don’ts that newcomers should take into account when starting out?

Carlos: For newcomers to RoboKiden, I recommend focusing on teamwork and communication. The game is designed around cooperation, so coordinating with your teammates is crucial for success. Don’t rush into the arena without a strategy—take the time to understand your character’s abilities and how they complement your team’s composition. Also, explore different characters and playstyles to find what suits you best. Avoid the common mistake of going all offensive to the enemy mecha; balancing attacking and holding objectives is the key to winning matches.

What’s next for the IP, if you don’t mind me asking? Do you have any other plans to enhance the experience over the coming months or years? Or are we jumping the gun on this?

Carlos: We have exciting plans for RoboKiden’s future. Post-launch, we intend to roll out regular updates that include new characters, weapons, and events to keep the gameplay fresh and engaging. Additionally, we are exploring seasonal content and potential collaborations that will bring even more content and experiences to our players. Our goal is to continuously enhance RoboKiden and build a thriving community around it.
