Beyblade X: XONE — Everything We Know

I’m going to take a wild guess and say that Beyblade was your favorite toy when you were a kid. It’s been a minute since we had a proper game from the franchise. So, when news of the upcoming Beyblade X: XONE came knocking, nearly everyone in the gaming world was beyond shocked yet giddy about getting back on the spinning-toy battlefields. Still, it's a lot to take in at once, so be sure to read all the way through our Beyblade X: XONE— Everything We Know article to get caught up on everything that's been officially revealed thus far.

What is Beyblade X:XONE?

Beyblade X: XONE is an upcoming action game in the Beyblade franchise. If the name rings a bell, it’s probably because you may have stumbled on the franchise’s spinning-top toys. Beyblade X: XONE is based on an over two-decade franchise by Takara Tomy. Alongside action-oriented video games, the franchise also features anime spanning years, related manga series, and a spinning-toy Beyblade line.

While there have been quite a number of Beyblade games, Beyblade X: XONE will be the first game to feature online battles. Moreover, it plans to draw inspiration from the upcoming Beyblade X anime series. Since Beyblade Burst: Battle Zero launched in 2018, the franchise has gone into a bit of a hiatus. Now, FuRyu plans to pick up where it left off, ushering in a new era for the series.

Story

two bolts hitting each other

All we know about the Beyblade X: XONE story is that it will be a new one with original characters. We know the upcoming game will draw inspiration from the Beyblade X anime currently out in Japan and is scheduled to be released globally this summer. With the X Dash mechanic newly introduced in the anime and confirmed to feature in the upcoming game, perhaps the story will also take the same route.

In that case, Beyblade X tells the story of a young boy who dreams of becoming the top Beyblade player. You’ll need to take on other professional Beyblade players in the X Tower. With doubtless skill, strategy, and customization among the factors to consider when taking on Beyblade opponents, Beyblade X: XONE could shape up to deliver a compelling story we can’t wait to unravel.

On the other hand, Beyblade Burst: Battle Zero’s (2018) story was about an elementary school student, Valt Aoi, climbing the ranks to compete at the national Beyblade tournament. So, all the more reason for Beyblade X: XONE to take the same route, albeit with a new storyline and original characters.

Gameplay

Beyblade-X-XONE

You can expect Beyblade X: XONE to feature a single-player mode, complete with a brand-new story and original characters. You’ll also access an online multiplayer mode that will feature online battles for the first time in the series. Each session will allow up to two players at a time. As always, you’ll access a wide assortment of Beyblade weapons, which you’ll be free to customize to your liking. Once satisfied, you’ll take on enemies using your chosen Beyblade across different stadiums.

Of particular interest are the X lines and X dashes introduced in the Beyblade X anime. Both will feature in the upcoming game; specifically, the “X Lines” will feature within the battle arenas, thus allowing you to perform the “X Dash” mechanic. Furthermore, you’ll use an “Active Gauge” system original to the series. Otherwise, we expect the gameplay to be largely similar to previous games in the Beyblade franchise.

Development

Developer and publisher FuRyu is currently working on Beyblade X: XONE. It’ll build on an already well-established franchise that dates back to 1999. You probably remember the original Bakuten Shoot Beyblade anime that gave rise to plenty more television anime, a line of spinning-top toys and a related manga series.

Today, the Beyblade franchise is developed by Takara Tomy. They released the newest Beyblade X anime in Japan on October 6, 2023, and are planning for a global launch in the summer. Meanwhile, the Beyblade X manga is already out as of June 2023. However, the new Beyblade X toy line will launch this summer.

Takara Tomy describes the Beyblade X project as “fourth generation,” and rightly so, with the series having evidently made huge leaps in graphics and controls. In fact, the new releases will be in celebration of the multi-media franchise’s 25th anniversary.

Trailer

Beyblade X: XONE

Unfortunately, we don’t have an official reveal trailer just yet. However, the key visuals via the FuRyu official website say it all. Characters look ravishing. Beyblade color schemes look great—probably the best in the series. Online battles seem to already be setting a high bar for what’s to come. Overall, Beyblade X: XONE  looks far more visually impressive than previous games. We can’t wait to catch sneak peeks into the actual gameplay ahead of launch.

Release Date, Platforms & Editions

Beyblade X: XONE

Beyblade X: XONE is currently planned to launch in Japan on November 14, 2024. Unfortunately, we don't know when the global launch will be. Possibly a few months later. Heck, we don’t even know if it will be localized, but we really hope it will because the audience is primed and ready for some Beyblade action. As of now, we can confirm that the upcoming game will be available on Nintendo Switch and PC platforms via Steam.

While we don’t know the specific editions that will be available for pre-order just yet, we can confirm that pre-ordering the Nintendo Switch physical copy of the game will have its benefits. You’ll be able to get the special Beyblade “Shinobi Knife 4-60LF Metal Coat: Blue” spinning-top toy as a bonus gift only exclusive to Switch at the price of roughly $53.
