10 Best Weapons in Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Koei Tecmo dropped a new entry in the Dynasty Warriors franchise on January 17, 2025, continuing the revered hack-and-slash series. Still based on the story of the Three Kingdoms, the new game lets players experience the harsh battles of the Kingdom in the eyes of a nameless hero. Dive into the expansive mainland China and carve your path to become a true warrior. But not without the right armaments to triumph over a thousand soldiers. Here are the best weapons in Dynasty Warriors: Origins.
10. Crescent Blade

Dynasty Warriors: Origins players have a list of weapons in Crescent Blade. But they are only handy if you master the combos and timing. You can pull successive strong, charged blows that culminate in a catastrophic finish with the Conquering Luan. It’s a grade 8 weapon with a maximum base attack stat of 624. Nevertheless, you will need to monitor enemy movements carefully to avoid missing a blow. Failing to land a hit breaks the chain of successive hits, and you won’t be landing any devastating blows with a broken combo.
9. Halberd

The Halberd works in the same way as the Crescent Blade but with a larger damage area. Become the nameless hero by clearing troops of officers with Halberd once you complete the game’s main story. Halberds generally are higher-grade weapons, with the ultimate Rampaging Luan carrying the maximum attack stat. It functions much like a sword but proudly deals the most damage in Dynasty Warriors: Origins.
8. Lance

Lances appear more like a poor version of spears. However, they are a little underwhelming because of their build. Omega Force designed them to become powered up as you take hits. This means that your lance attacks are powered up more when you tank enemy blows, and this makes them quite risky. You won’t be letting foes strike you, so you can deal back some gruesome attacks with this weapon. However, a bit of skill and patience coupled with the all-powerful Whirling Luan will put the officers on the receiving end. Just make sure Zhao Yun and Zhang Fei are down in less than 11 minutes when you take on the Battle of Changban.
7. Twin Pikes

Strike enemies on the battlefield with confidence wielding the Twin Pikes. You can typically take on enemies from any side they approach and wreak havoc with successive strong attacks. You have up to nine Twin Pikes weapons, with the Bellowing Luan as your ultimate companion. It’s your most formidable weapon in this category for strong attacks and lets you humiliate a whole group of enemy troops. You will unlock this weapon once you claim victory in the Battle of Xiapi. However, you must defeat Zhang Liao without the flood attack.
6. Podao

Podao is a great Dynasty Warriors weapon that can be used to run down multiple enemies within a short time. It’s designed for charged attacks and allows for up to 2 staged charged attacks with boosted damage and range. And with a triple-charged attack combo, you will have enemies blown by the shockwaves. It’s a signature weapon for defeating large groups of enemies or staggering crowds of officers. However, you will need to maintain some movements for you to pull maximum charged attacks. That way, you’ve compensated for the relatively slow speeds in unleashing attacks.
5. Wheels

Eliminate one warrior in the Suppression of You Province and unlock Wheels. They are pretty unique, coming to you as two handheld wheel-like blades that slash enemies with precision. The wheels are quite exciting to use due to their unique technique. Players enjoy upgraded attacks whenever they catch them after a throw. Nonetheless, it’s a bit risky because you will have to stay without a weapon momentarily. Additionally, using the wheels requires a high level of timing and precision. More so when using the upgraded evading attack.
4. Staff

Players have a long list of Staves in Dynasty Warriors marked by the powerful Thrashing Luan. Unlocked after the Assassination of Dong Zhou, the weapons offer strength and versatility. They allow you to strike enemies relentlessly and with confidence. Simply make quick spinning strikes with a staff, and you will have the space around you clear of any enemy. With staff, you have excellent combos that can even stagger enemies and set them up for devastating blows.
3. Sword

Swords are basic but excellent weapons that you battle out with enemies from the beginning. The Longsword, General’s Sword, and Commander’s Sword may be good for a start when dealing with weak enemies. But overall, they are all you need for a kick-off with Dynasty Warriors: Origins. They have simple combos that you can quickly learn and unleash on individual or multiple enemies. The good thing is that you can always upgrade to better swords. You can try the Training and Celestial swords or the ultimate Lurking Luan. In reality, you could do the entire Dynasty Warriors run without looking for any other weapons.
2. Spear

As long-reach weapons, Spears help you reach the officers from afar, a stunt you can never pull with a sword. You can take down a couple of adversaries without tanking any damage from them. That makes them quite safe to use, but you won’t be in that safe space for long. And that’s perhaps why players can unlock spears in Chapter 1 after the Battle of Guangyang. But if you can twirl the spear around, you could still dispatch multiple enemies approaching your position. The only downside here is that the attacks are much slower than you would have with a sword.
1. Gauntlets

Defeat Zhou Cang in Dynasty Warriors: Origins Chapter 1 and unlock these unique and formidable weapons. They will let you unleash a humiliating onslaught on the enemy warriors. You deal different levels of damage depending on the Gauntlet you wield, maximizing the damage with the Striking Luan. But with Gauntlets, you’re letting go of strong attacks for stances. You can deliver multiple blows using different techniques that will overwhelm your opponents. However, you will have to be fast enough and ready for close-quarter combat. It’s a great choice for those who love heavy and brutal combat with minimal time between successive attacks.
