Best Weapons

Dark Souls, the beloved but morale-crushing series, is a staple in FromSoftware's souls-like franchise. Players must progress through the perilous regions, face grueling monsters, and avoid death at all costs, or they will be forced to start over, without the bonus of their souls. That’s why players should get quite comfortable with the idea of death while playing Dark Souls III, as it is an unavoidable consequence of the game. However, by using the best weapons in Dark Souls III you can mitigate your peril. So, let's take a look at which weapons prove as the best at slaying the gods and monsters of Dark Souls III.

6. Black Knight Greataxe

Best Weapons

The Black Knight Greataxe chunks health and has a dynamic move set for a large battle axe. Thusly, making it an excellent choice for players who build strength. Evidently, its playstyle is perfect for players who want to swing for the fences while fighting enemies. Furthermore, It's one of the best weapons for strength and dexterity builds because it scales with the base stats perfectly.

You can get the Black Knight Great Axe as a drop from Black Knights. These enemies can be tricky, but most players should be able to defeat them after the first few encounters. Another advantage that makes the Black Knight one of the best weapons in the game is that it deals extra damage to demons, which are a common type of enemy throughout the game.

5. Uchigatana

The Uchigatana provides players with reliable speed and damage, allowing them the ability to defeat enemies in a swift fashion. One of this weapon's best characteristics is its ability to inflict bleed damage, which causes enemies to lose extra health after being struck. It's also worth noting that it deflects critical hits, another reason why we consider it one of the best weapons in Dark Souls III.

While the base stats provide adequate starting damage, it also provides some of the best scaling in the game. This is especially advantageous because it is discovered early in the game. Players who visit Firelink Shrine and defeat the Sword Master will be rewarded with the Uchigatana, granting them one of the game's best weapons, rather early on.

4. Gargoyle Flame Hammer

best weapons

The Gargoyle Flame Hammer is extremely powerful, dealing both insane physical and flame damage. Along with providing satisfying blows, this weapon also launches flames at enemies, allowing for greater range when engaging enemies. Thusly giving you a bit more versatility with your attacks.

Because it is such a powerful weapon, don't expect to acquire it so easily. You can only find it by slaying  Capital Gargoyles, which are late-game enemies that put up a vigorous fight. Nonetheless, farming these enemies in the Profaned Capital is the best way to obtain this highly sought-after weapon. Though it’s well worth it, as you will not be disappointed while wielding this bone-shattering beast that is easily one of the best weapons in the game.

3. Sellsword Twinblades

Best weapons

The majority of the best weapons in Dark Souls III are obtained relatively late in playthroughs. Consequently why the early game is much more difficult than it needs to be. Players who choose the Mercenary class, on the other hand, will begin the game with the Sellsword Twin blades, one of the best starting weapons in the game. With pure dexterity in the player's build, these already deadly weapons will scale into pure killing machines that will allow players to slice through enemies with even greater haste.

Even if you choose a different class, you can still use the Sellsword Twinblades. This can be accomplished by visiting the Halfway Fortress's Bonfire on the Road of Sacrifices. You must fight the Black Knight here, and if successful, these blades will drop as your reward.

2. Fume Ultra Greatsword

Dealing heavy blows to enemies paired with its long reach, the Fume Ultra Greatsword is hands down one of the best weapons in Dark Souls III. Though you should be wary of the attack speed because it is one of the heaviest weapons in the game, making it extremely slow. Despite the fact that speed is a disadvantage, the range and damage compensate for it.

Fans of the franchise will remember this heavy hitter from Dark Souls II. So it's not only nice to see it return but even better to learn that it's much easier to obtain this time around. To claim this monstrous weapon, you must go to Smoldering Lake and defeat Knight Slayer, who lives beneath the lake. When you defeat him, you'll be rewarded with the Fume Ultra Greatsword, arguably one of the best weapons in the game.

1. Claymore

The Claymore is the most versatile and one of the best weapons in Dark Souls III. Although this may come as a surprise to some given its underwhelming appearance and name. However, the Claymore boasts some of the best overall stats, in terms of hitbox range, speed, and damage. Not to mention it has some stylish animations that transition smoothly into rolls and dodges. With incredible stats and scaling, players can rely on this sword to get the job done at any stage of the game, regardless of your build.

The Claymore can be found in a few places. First, there's the High Wall of Lothric, which is guarded by a fire-breathing dragon who has it up for grabs. Secondly, while trekking the Boreal Valley when in Irithyll, enemies wielding the sword may drop it. Although this weapon's stats make it one of the best weapons in the game, there's still more to its claim as one of the best weapons in the game. It can be infused with gems to make it even more powerful. Any gem will work, but be sure to only use fire or deep gems if your strength is low.
