Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones is one of the best Prince of Persia games that left a significant mark in the industry. It is the most story-driven title which also came with one of the biggest hack and slash mechanisms ever. As the final entry to the Sands of Time trilogy, the game did not disappoint. Here, players get to learn about some consequential damages the Prince faces due to actions from previous events. 

The story revolves around the Prince's alter ego and the Dark Prince, where the Prince transforms into his alter ego at random. The weapon controlled by the Dark Prince requires constant health recharge as it easily depletes. Aside from amazing combat techniques, the game also features some pretty cool humor. Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame is Ubisoft's attempt to expand the combat mechanics of the series and as expected, they nailed it. Here the Prince is bent on returning to Persia to face Jaffar the evil wizard. The Prince's home is under catastrophic circumstances as the Princess is placed under a death spell as Jaffar takes the form of the Prince. Although short, the game is intense and the fights showcase an improvement from the game's 1989 prequel. It features some of the best characters and maps.

The game also focuses more on combat than in the previous series where enemies only appear one at a time. Here, players occasionally have to face up to four enemies at one go. Once the game timer starts counting, players cannot regain lost minutes unless they revert to a saved part of the game before the count down. Players get to explore larger areas in Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame, making the experience more captivating.

2. Prince of Persia: Warrior Within

Prince of Persia: Warrior Within is one of the most critically acclaimed titles of the series. Aside from featuring one of the best hack and slash battle mechanics, it also provides one of the most memorable Playstation 2 experiences. In terms of art and design, this game takes the cue ahead of all the Prince of Persia titles. Since the storyline is so intense players can still play the game years later and enjoy its content; the game does not rely much on graphics as its sequels. Combat involves the Prince taking down the ferocious creatures created by the Sand of Time; a mysterious evil unleashed on the Kingdom as a result of the treachery of the Vizier. The Sands of Time has been a highly acclaimed title and its upcoming remake is greatly anticipated. Hopefully it measures up to its original substance.
