The Legend of Baboo: Everything We Know

Permanent Way Entertainment, in collaboration with Publisher Midwest Games, debuted their new game, The Legend of Baboo, in the Xbox Partner Preview. The game will be an exciting action-adventure game revolving around a boy and his dog. The inspiration involving its creation stems from fables passed down through Turkish generations. Here, players engage in an intense adventure with a boy, Sepehr, and his trusted dog, Baboo. The two characters are treading on a quest to save the boy’s family from the strange ancient evil forces. The duo harnesses the power of their bond to save their favorite land and the people in it.

What is The Legend of Baboo?

This entry is a third-person action-adventure that is built on fables from Turkish culture. A young boy named Sepehr and his loyal dog, Baboo, work together in a frissoning journey to rescue his family from a dark, ancient evil. Players take on the roles of either the boy or the dog, journeying across mysterious lands.The land cuts across a magical puzzle island that contains dark forests and fast-flowing rivers. Both protagonists in The Legend of Baboo have their own RPG-like skill trees and abilities.

Utilize Sepehr’s magic staff, as well as Baboo’s dangerous claws and powerful bark, to fight off evil demonic forces. By defeating these dangerous forces, players unlock special magic attacks that can clear an entire room. The Legend of Baboo portrays hints of a touching and engaging experience for both seasoned and novice players. Not only does it have amazing characters, but also a well-crafted narrative and unique gameplay that will keep you hooked for hours.

Story

The story of Sepehr and Baboo is a combination of old tales. It begins when a beautiful island is taken over by demons under the command of a dark, ancient force. Two protagonists, Sepehr and Baboo, embark on a dangerous quest. They hope to save their family and defeat the dark force causing all the havoc. The bond between them fuels the strength required to battle the demons. 

The two protagonists come with a unique set of skills for players to utilize to destroy enemies. They solve puzzles and walk through dangerous terrains, while occasionally switching between the boy and the dog. An interesting feature in the game is that it not only allows you to pet your furry friend but ride it as well. Similar to Nix in Star Wars, the game allows you to find outfits and customize Baboo to fit your mission.

Gameplay

The two protagonists, Sepehr and Baboo, combine their incredible skills to fight demons, solve puzzles and course through beautiful lands. You play as both heroes, and depending on your gameplay, you can switch between them. Baboo is a big dog that you can pet, ride, and customize. You can swing, jump and climb through the enchanting landscape as you solve tough puzzles and challenges. Additionally, you also dodge, roll and strike your foes with a combination of different attacks. These attacks are highly reactive and involve action combat.

The land consists of black forests, dangerous waters, a mysterious wilderness and frozen lands. Sepehr carries a magic-imbued staff, while Baboo uses his claws and a super bark to fight enemies. From The Legend of Baboo’s reveal, you can expect boss fights as well. The land consists of realms that each contain a demon guardian, so players should prepare for intense and deadly battles.

Defeating the guardians unleashes new special magical attacks that use up mana but wipe out a lot of enemies at once. The game will include three difficulty levels: easy, medium, and hard. Players will be able to combine skills to create a build that best suits their preferred playstyle. The title includes RPG-inspired gameplay and skill trees that give players the ability to customize their gameplay. Moreover, the skill trees power up the offensive and defensive abilities in battle in addition to unlocking new skills.  

Development

The Legend of Baboo is an action-adventure game developed by Midwest Games in collaboration with Permanent Way Entertainment. They announced the title during the Xbox Partner Preview. The game will feature a heartfelt narrative revolving around a boy and his dog. The two protagonists will travel through demon-infested lands, trying to rescue his family and rid their land of evil. 

Trailer

The trailer begins with a lady’s voice addressing her child. She tells him their island offers everything the boy needs in his precious life. The island has vast forests, roaring rivers, and mountains covered with rocks and ice. The woman goes on to express how the child is grown enough to understand that for every good in the world, there is an equally dark opposing force. He comes across a mystical tree and discovers a powerful weapon, which he uses on his quest. We see the boy encounter different characters, some of whom help him in his quest.

However, he occasionally fights off deadly-looking demons and huge bosses. At the earth’s core, there are forces that are so dark that the boy cannot begin to comprehend. Luckily, he is accompanied everywhere by his dog.

The voice goes on to add that every soul is susceptible to falling prey to these forces and that her child should always aim to do good. She trusts that her son will comply with her advice. Sepehr, her son, needs to be resilient, resourceful, brave, and stay in the light in order to succeed.

Additionally, with Baboo, Seher’s loyal dog, by his side, he stands a better chance against the evil forces. She urges the magic of the land to protect his son. From the trailer, we can conclude that Baboo will play an important part in the title’s narrative.

Release Date and Platforms

Publisher Midwest Games and developer Permanent Way Game Co. announced that their game, The Legend of Baboo, will debut in 2025. The game will be available via the Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.
