Terrifier: The ARTcade Game — Everything We Know

You better believe it. Art the Clown is getting his own game sometime soon. It’s most probably because of how the fictional character has been blowing up in the Terrifier films. Also, it looks like Chris Jericho will be making a comeback in the new game. Even if his character somehow disappoints in the film. In any case, get ready to play as Art the Clown, hacking and smacking people’s heads like you don’t care. Thankfully, we have a trailer, too, for a rough idea about what to expect. Tag along as we explore everything we know about Terrifier: The ARTcade Game so far.
What is Terrifier: The ARTcade Game?

Terrifier: The ARTcade Game is an upcoming beat ’em up game. It’ll take after a retro arcade art style, complete with all the gore you can ask for. Also, the combat action will be snappy, with definite references to the Terrifier films. It’s about to get real bloody, real soon. Slicing, smashing, and splattering of human pieces will be all part of the camaraderie and all in good fun, of course.
The new game will be based on the successful Terrifier film series. As such, it’ll feature the dreadful world of Art the Clown, complete with characters and environments inspired by the films. Furthermore, the gameplay will draw inspiration from the arcade classics. Also, the visual style will be in pixel art form, doubling down on the retro charm of the game some more.
Story

If you’ve watched the Terrifier films, then you should have a pretty good idea of what to expect from Terrifier: The ARTcade Game’s story. The new game will star Art the Clown, making it the first game to feature the fictional character as the protagonist. He’s known as a sinister dude who’s often unpredictable in the film series. Part of his repertoire is wreaking havoc and causing chaos in the places he goes to.
As a result, you’ll be destroying the environment and killing people across a variety of areas. These will be depicted as stages that take after a movie set. According to the game’s Steam store description, a movie shoot will be currently underway in each of the stages. However, Art will storm in with the sole goal of destroying objects and hammering into people’s heads.
Gameplay

Terrifier: The ARTcade Game will use pixel art to portray carnage in a world setting, taking after the Terrifier films. It’ll be a downright bloody game where retro charm takes center stage and beat ’em up fighting is the world order. Get ready to grapple with snappy and intense combat as well as dark humor. Even with the 80s and 90s classic beat ’em ups’ inspiration, the upcoming game plans to uphold fun throughout its runtime.
Below, we’ve highlighted the key features you can expect in the final game.
- Pixelated art: While the new game draws references from the Terrifier films, it’ll capture the films’ characters and environments in pixel art. These will be vibrant pieces with a cartoonish look that portray the bloody undertakings of Art.
- Multiplayer: Cheer up, folks, as you’ll be free to bring up to four friends on a bloody co-op experience. But you can play against one another, too, with the option to choose various game modes.
- Varied weapons: From spiked hammers to chainsaws, anything goes as long as they splatter the screen with blood.
- Stages and bosses: Expect multiple stages, each taking you on different paths and enemies to fight. These will have tough bosses, too, that push your skills to the limits.
- Electronic soundtrack: Adrenaline-pumping music will play in the background, perfectly encapsulating retro charm.
- Over-the-top moves: Attacks and finishers, especially, will be “out there” and hilarious. Combat intends to balance brutality and fun with gory animations.
- Game modes: Terrifier: The ARTcade Game will have six modes, ranging from quick battles to extended challenges.
Development

Developer Relevo and publisher Selecta Play are currently working on launching Terrifier: The ARTcade Game sometime soon. Relevo hails from Bilbao, Spain, while Selecta Play’s operations are based in Barcelona, Spain. Together, they plan to create a retro game that inspires. Relevo has developed several games since its founding in 2009. Some include puzzle and platforming games, Treasure Rangers, and the 16-bit retro-future arcade game Bullfighter NEON.
Trailer
Watch Terrifier: The ARTcade Game’s teaser trailer on YouTube now. You’ll probably spot similarities to Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. Hopefully, Relevo can create a unique experience by launch. Also, the graphics look a little less polished. It’s understandable, given it’s the teaser trailer. But the starting bit is a lot more polished than the actual gameplay.
Anyway, the gameplay itself shows promise. It looks like you’ll be playing as other characters besides Art the Clown. There’s Chris Jericho, who hopefully has solid character progression. It’d be nice if the characters had depth, too, besides the obvious slashing and smashing heads in. Hopefully, the combat has more depth and strategy than merely a mindless, blood-splattering affair.
Release Date, Platforms, & Editions

Unfortunately, we don’t quite have a release date for Terrifier: The ARTcade Game just yet. All the Steam store pages say is that the upcoming game is coming soon. And so does the trailer, which gives us all but a coming “2025” clue at the end. Still, you can expect the game to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC platforms via Steam. For now, we don’t know of any editions that may be available for preorder.
In the meantime, feel free to add Terrifier: The ARTcade Game to your wishlist, whether via Steam or PlayStation Store. It helps the developers to show support for the game ahead of launch with marketing and sometimes development funds, too. Otherwise, you can always follow the official social handle here to keep track of new updates as they come.
