MindsEye: Everything We Know

If you enjoyed Detroit: Become Human, Until Dawn, Cyberpunk 2077, and other near-futuristic, robotic invasion, or cinematic playable movies, MindsEye might be right up your alley. Alternatively, it can be a good distraction from GTA 6, given the striking similarities between the two games.
It’s expected, really, since MindsEye comes from former GTA president and producer Leslie Benzies, alongside industry veterans, promising talent, and the folks who made Hitman.
As much as we’re drawing lots of similarities between MindsEye and other major titles, it still remains one of the most exciting reveals at 2025’s State of Play.
We’re compiling everything we know about MindsEye below so you know exactly what to look forward to in the upcoming game.
What is MindsEye?

MindsEye is an upcoming single-player, narrative-driven, action-adventure game. It’s a near-futuristic dystopian sci-fi thriller whose campaign will have an absorbing story, stunning graphics, and cinematic action. You’ll explore the fictional desert city of Redrock, ravaged by robots and deep conspiracies.
Like GTA, there also seems to be immersive open-world interactivity and high-octane car speed chases. Meanwhile, you can witness explosive action from the trailer that all merges to truly have us anticipating a mind-blowing ride.
Story

MindsEye will take you to a fictional desert city called Redrock. It’s a near-futuristic dystopian city where humans and robots clash. Technology has evolved to neural links implanted inside the brain, which our protagonist, Jacob Diaz, a former special-ops soldier, wakes up with.
However, he has lost his memories. However, fragments of his past military life keep coming back in distorted forms through his neural link. He then sets his mind on tracking down the corporation that inserted it, leading to a super-heated campaign where he crosses paths with other similarly frustrated-by-technology folks.
Even though robots are presumed to be the future of Redrock to create the “safest city in the world,” they seem to be causing more harm than good. MindsEye grapples with these moral conflicts, along with those facing the main character in his quest to find answers.
Gameplay

Despite the rumors about MindsEye being open-world, it seems to lean more on a linear narrative. It follows Jacob Diaz and his interactivity with an AI-ridden, hi-tech, experimentative world.
You’ll unravel a super-heated mission, uncovering oppressive military power and conspiracy schemes between different factions. Your mission is to search for answers to your past. However, you soon become entangled in saving humanity against a devastating rise of sentient robots controlled by human greed.
In addition to a mostly linear 15-hour-or-so narrative, you’ll also navigate the fragile relationship between Silva Industries, Marco Silva, and Redrock’s power-hungry mayor, Shiva Vega. Each has different motives, with the billionaire wanting to alter the future of humanity and Vega wanting to control technology and Redrock’s citizens.
Development

Developer Build a Rocket Boy and publisher IO Interactive Partners A/S are working on MindsEye. Build a Rocket Boy was formed in 2015 by none other than Leslie Benzies, former President and Producer of Rockstar Games, which develops Grand Theft Auto.
After leaving Rockstar, he formed the developing studio with a group of industry veterans and promising talent. Their goal has been to take the open-world action-adventure genre to the next level of innovation and interactivity.
We’ve only heard about Everywhere, among the projects Build a Rocket Boy has been working on. It’s an upcoming online community-driven massive multiplayer gaming space that hasn’t left Beta yet. Its goal is to allow players to create any game they want in ARCADIA. Here, you can explore unique biomes, interact with objects, drive vehicles, and create objects, challenges, and games.
While Everywhere seems to have hit a dead end, with Build a Rocket Boy now turning their focus on MindsEye, it leaves us questioning just how innovative and next-level Leslie Benzies plans to go with this new game that will effectively be next in line on his legacy.
Apparently, the objects, challenges, and environments in MindsEye are planned to be accessible to manipulate in ARCADIA. But that has yet to be officially confirmed.
On the other hand, publisher IO Interactive Partners A/S is an acclaimed studio in their own right. You probably know them from their Hitman hit series, whose influences you can also see in MindsEye.
Trailer
You can watch MindsEye’s cinematic and gameplay trailer, which is out now on YouTube. One of the standout features the trailer reveals is the high-speed car chases and explosive action you’ll be in. With Jacob caught in the crossfire of mafias, power-hungry politicians, corrupt billionaires, and more eccentric personalities, you’ll race to save Redrock using advanced weapons.
You can traverse the world on foot, driving, or even in the air. All the while taking in the stunning cinematic action sequences seen in the trailer and digesting a gripping story about power, greed, and control. Technology and various factions’ ambition clash, leaving a tight chase between discovering your fate and saving that of your home.
