Xbox struck a partnership with Inworld AI, as shared on Monday this week on their site. According to Xbox’s press release, the merger will introduce AI generative aspects in video game development. In turn, the duo and Microsoft will introduce an AI platform to boost the creation of games.

For some time now, developers have been toying with and trying the idea of using AI in the gaming industry. In some instances, some developers have been able to recreate some games using Chat GPT and Bing Chat. With such success, it is imminent that AI chat boxes can be a great tool to game developers globally.

For this reason, Microsoft’s Xbox is jumping into a new contract with an M12 portfolio company, Inworld AI. According to Haiyan Zhang, General Manager of Gaming AI at Xbox, the team will build AI game dialogue & narrative tools.

The merger, unlike its predecessors, will have an upper advantage due to its service-based expertise. Xbox will offer revolutionizing accessible and responsible creator tools aided by their vast knowledge of gaming. At the same time, Microsoft will also lend a hand. It’ll provide its cloud-based AI solutions like Azure OpenAI Service and Microsoft Research on future predictions about video games. Inworld AI will then chip in to provide its generative AI models for character development.

Haiyan Zhang sees the merger as an exemplary phenomenon providing developers with various tools to ease and improve the development process. The merger will lead to the development of an AI design copilot that will convert prompts into detailed scripts, dialogue trees, and quests. Thus leaving developers with enough time for more creative processes.

Additionally, developers should expect the provision of an AI character runtime engine. This tool will be used to aid in developing more narratives, quests and captivating dialogues for the game client.

While this is simply a work in progress, the merger could be entirely essential in the gaming industry.
