What is Melobot: A Last Song?

Melobot: A Last Song is an upcoming rhythm, action-adventure game. It follows Melobot, a cute, little robot that strives to save an alien planet from doom. You arrive on the planet to interact with strange flora and fauna. Yet the planet’s nature is mysteriously silent, pushing you to interact with them. You, as a result, learn the Meloplants’ musical notes and use them to awaken the planet. Meanwhile, a dark matter is consuming the world, posing a threat to life. With new musical prowess and combat abilities, you’ll take on the dangers you face, saving the world from destruction.
Story

Melobot: A Last Song crafts a dreamy universe with sci-fi and fantasy elements. It’ll plunge you into a quest to save the world from a mysterious dark matter. At the center stage will be Melobot, a little robot that can play music. While its original function was peace, it now faces a new mission to awaken the planet. You do so by listening to the plants’ musical notes and playing the songs. From the game’s description, the mechanic doesn’t sound too complex. However, you will need to take on challenges crafted by powerful guardians.

Development

Anomalie Studio is currently developing Melobot: A Last Song in collaboration with Microids. Anomalie is a French studio led by Mathias Jacquin-Ravot and Paul Samuelson. Their vision is pushing the envelope of gaming norms, which, with Melobot: A Last Song, already seems to be panning out well. Microids, on the other hand, need no introduction, with their hit graphic adventure series Syberia helping to make a name for the studio. They’ve also worked on the investigative narrative Blacksad: Under the Skin, among other successful games. Melobot: A Last Song will allow you to play the game using both controllers and keyboards. All you’ll have to do is master the game’s intuitive controls to play the right music at the right time.

Melobot: A Last Song’s announcement trailer is now out on YouTube. It showcases an inviting world with a mysterious aura. The art style is pretty vibrant and exciting. It packs a lot of charm, reminiscent of Pixar. Melobot is also pretty adorable, with a small size compared to the world. But the chill, relaxing vibe is also juxtaposed with a threatening vibe. Release Date, Platforms, & Editions

Melobot: A Last Song is slated to launch on September 12, 2024. With the release date not too far away, you’ll want to start dusting off your PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, or PC platforms to play the game.
