Kingdom Come: Deliverance — 10 Best Tips for Beginners
It’s no secret that Kingdom Come: Deliverance’s combat is a little finicky. After all, up-close-and-personal combat hasn’t always been the forte of action RPGs until the medieval series popularized swordplay melee combat. To raise the ante, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II has added gunplay to the mix. You probably expect gunplay to fare better. But just like gunpowder was just gaining traction in the 15th century, so was the gunplay combat system in the game. Similarly, the crossbow and bow and arrow ranged combat could use a little more care and love.
Despite the combat system fighting you back, it all strangely gels well together to deliver genuinely exhilarating gameplay. You really feel the tension as enemies descend on you in a flurry of rage. And when you can successfully outsmart them all, making it out of an ambush by the skin of your teeth, it feels so damn satisfying. If you’re chasing that sweet feeling of relief or simply want to make the most of your time in medieval Bohemia, then be sure to read through our Kingdom Come: Deliverance – best tips for beginners guide.
10. Get Back Man’s Best Friend
Mutt, the dog. How sweet, how kind. If there’s a buddy you want on your side, it’s Mutt. But the dude runs away when Hans’ stupidity lands you in an ambush by the lake. You’ll probably have other priorities in mind. But be sure to put getting Mutt back at the top of your list.
He’s quite the champ during combat, biting enemies at the heel, and will save your skin a tad too many times. He can bark to distract enemies, too. To get the dog back, simply take up the Mutt side quest. While it’ll take a long to complete, the activities therein, from archery to saving a horse, are pretty fun.
9. Don’t Be Shy of Haggling
You can always save a couple of bucks when you haggle, however annoying it can be. It also goes both ways when you’re either buying or selling an item. Don’t settle for the first price put on the table. Try to see if you can get away with some extra coin.
However, you have to be careful not to exploit the good folk of Kuttenberg, as buying items at too low prices or selling them at extreme ones can prevent you from haggling in the future. Strike a good balance that’s fair.
8. Combat Training Can Save Your Life
It’s always been a Kingdom Come: Deliverance custom to train so you can get better in combat. So, if you’ve been fighting enemies and keep losing, perhaps you haven’t completed your combat training with Tomcat.
Once you talk to Bara in Troskowiz, she’ll lead you to find Master Tomcat based in Nomad Camp. By training with Tomcat, you’ll gain essential combat skills, which level you up to be better prepared for your next combat encounter.
7. Fast Travel the Right Way
Did you know that you can fast travel in Kingdom Come: Deliverance? It’s one of the best tips in Kingdom Come: Deliverance, but it sure does come with some precautions. The two maps are pretty vast. So, quickly moving from point A to B can save you a great deal of time. Yet fast travel demands that Henry is in top shape. He needs to be well-fed, well-rested, and healthy as a horse. That’s because while fast traveling, you can potentially run into bandits that toss you into random combat encounters.
6. Keep Your Torch Closeby
Well, your torch is, of course, the tool that lights your way when the dark sets in. And in Bohemia, nights can get pretty dark. Funny enough, guards will also let you go when you explore the streets with a torch rather than without.
5. Cleanliness is Next to Godliness

The thing with Henry is that he can get smelly when he goes without a shower for a long period. He can also get blood and guts all over himself that can begin to smell rather awful. This isn’t ideal when talking to NPCs, who can respond harshly just because you haven’t taken a shower.
4. But So is Thievery
Sure, there’s a punishment system in Kingdom Come: Deliverance. But thievery can also be grand. Be sure to lockpick as much as you can so Henry can get good at it over time. Also, take advantage of the night when the town is asleep to scope out the town stealthily. There’s pickpocketing, too. As long as you’re slick (and quick) about it.
3. Crafting Comes in Handy
Crafting can not only add better gear to your inventory. It can also be goods you can sell for profit. Be sure the weapons are well-crafted to earn the most out of it. You can learn crafting from Radovan the Blacksmith. Once you craft items, you can sell them to other Blacksmiths at a handsome price.
2. Keep that Reputation in Check

Up next on the best tips in Kingdom Come: Deliverance is keeping track of your reputation meter. One way to raise it is by interacting with NPCs. During interactions, the nicer you are, the higher your reputation.
You can even make some friends and even budding romances. Also, helping NPCs on side quests will net you more good reputation points. That and avoiding breaking the law. And, in turn, they will help you out when you need them.
1. Make Wise Combat Choices

As much as combat training goes a long way to level up Henry’s skills, you also need to be smart during enemy encounters. Make use of ranged combat to pick off enemies one by one. The crossbow can be quite handy here.
You can also sneak up on enemies and backstab them with your dagger. You also want to have different weapons to swap out when your current one is damaged or breaks. Make sure you learn the Master Strike, taught by Tomcat, that is unlockable.
Also, the timing for attack and defense in Kingdom Come: Deliverance can be a little finicky and requires patience to master.
