GoldenEye 007 Remake Has Surfaced on TrueAchievements

Now, there are plenty of things we, as gamers, have begged for over the years. GoldenEye 007, which originally launched on Nintendo 64 back in '97, is one that tends to pop up in conversation a lot more than others. Unfortunately for us, however, Xbox, who purchased original developer Rare way back when, couldn't have cared less for our constant badgering and bickering.

That was last year, anyway. This year, however, things have changed. And as for that beloved 64 game that launched over two decades ago, well — let's just say it could be making a comeback for Xbox.

So, what do we know?

Spotted on TrueAchievements, GoldenEye 007 was listed with a well-rounded 1000 Gamerscore, along with all the usual achievements and their matching descriptions. However, the uncovered list wasn't found blank — but with users actually scribbled next to a few of the achievements. So, that means, despite not even being out yet, people have already managed to unlock them.

Of course, it's more than likely Rare employees sampling their forbidden fruits before making an official announcement. But as far as Xbox is concerned, this new port doesn't exist. Or, at least not yet, anyway.

It only makes sense, having a GoldenEye 007 port for Xbox. After all, people have been asking for it for years. And seeing as it was never ported for Xbox 360 or the Xbox One, it seems only fair that it's finally placed on the Series X/S. Because let's face it — Series X could probably just about handle GoldenEye's elite graphics. But as for when Xbox will launch the game, well, that's anybody's guess.

So, what do you make of the news? Are you excited to shovel through Rare's all-time favourite on upgraded hardware in the near future? Let us know over on our socials here or down in the comments below.
