Dynasty Warriors Origins Endings & How to Unlock Them (2025)

Dynasty Warriors Origins’ retelling of The Romance of the Three Kingdoms comes equipped with three True Endings, each belonging to one of three factions: Wei, Wu, and Shu. To unlock these Endings, you will first need to decide which faction to form an alliance with, which will in turn allow you to follow the steps toward the respective conclusion and, in addition to receiving the true ending, grant you access to several in-game perks and one of three Achievements or Trophies.

It is worth pointing out here that, by creating a Save File before the Chapter 3 interlude, you will be able to return to the turning point in the campaign once you have successfully completed one of the three core storylines. If, however, you are not planning on returning to the Han Empire to rekindle those former flames with rival factions, then don’t sweat it — this isn’t a mandatory step for unlocking the True Ending; it’s more the case of allowing you to mop up any leftover Achievements/Trophies with the remaining factions.

At the beginning of Chapter 3, you will have the opportunity to side with one of three kingdoms: Wei, Wu, or Shu, with the rulers of each kingdom being Cao Cao, Sun Quan, and Lui Bei, respectively. At this point in time, you won’t have to concern yourself with any important goals, though you might want to consider establishing your bonds with the Officers of your chosen faction to help raise both your Proficiency Levels and Bond Level. In short, a tighter Bond will help you out with later battles and events that teeter around the concluding chapters. Again, not entirely mandatory — but some objectives will require you to be at a certain Level and have the appropriate skills.

Dynasty Warriors Origins Wei True Ending (& How to Unlock)

To unlock the True Ending for Wei, you will first need to reach Chapter 4; specifically, the Escape from Wan Castle battle. In this portion of the game, you have the ability to alter the course of Dian Wei’s fate, which is a crucial part of the game’s true story. Scratch that — it’s the only thing that needs to be done in order to unlock the True Ending. It’s meeting the win criteria for the battle, that’s the tough part.

In Escape from Wan Castle, you will receive the in-game hint: “A Fork in Dian Wei's Path. If only the enemies in the castle had been eliminated…” In short, this is a foreboding situation in which Dian Wei, who has the immense pressure of having to deal with ludicrously high quantities of enemy soldiers, could die in battle. To prevent his death and, of course, unlock the True Ending, you will need to complete all of your objectives before the clock runs out. If you’re successful, then you will hear Dian Wei speak towards the end of the battle, at which point the in-game hint system will sprout the message Fate Altered.

Of course, you won’t actually have the chance to join Dian Wei in battle, but you will, however, have the chance to defeat the enemy Officers and capture the bases, which are both incredibly important steps to achieving the overhanging objectives. If you can help it, aim to boost your Proficiency Levels as much as possible before joining the battle. Also, don’t be afraid to dial the Difficulty Level down if you’re struggling to compete.

All done? Congratulations — that's one of three True Endings in Dynasty Warriors Origins in the bag.

Dynasty Warriors Origins Wu True Ending (& How to Unlock)

To unlock the True Ending for Wu, you will first need to reach the Battle of Xiangyang in Chapter 3. The win criteria for this battle will largely revolve around Sun Jian, and more importantly, the acts you must take to prevent an unfortunate climax. The goal of this battle will involve you dicing through enemies promptly to reach Sun Jian before the pre-assigned ending occurs. If you're successful, then you will witness an alternate ending in which Sun Jian is rescued from a rather grizzly fate.

Unfortunately, there's another fork in the road that you will need to overcome to fulfill the True Ending criteria. In Chapter 4, you will eventually reach the Suppression of Wu battle, which requires you to rescue Sun Ce. Again, this can prove to be a relatively difficult battle, though it largely depends upon several factors, including your Proficiency Level and the Difficulty setting you've opted to enable. In short, though, you will need to reach Sun Ce on time, which means you should spend as little time as possible bodyguarding other Officers, and more time tending to Sun Ce's requests. If successful, you will receive the Fate Altered message and, in turn, the True Ending for Wu, and the second of three total True Endings in Dynasty Warriors Origins.

Dynasty Warriors Origins Shu True Ending (& How to Unlock)

To unlock the True Ending for Shu, you will first need to reach Chapter 5, and then onward to Battle of Changban. In this battle, you will need to defeat Cao Cao before Lui Bei reaches the escape point. The only major drawback to this seemingly simple objective, however, is that an enormous army stands between both Cao Cao and Lui Bei, which means that you will need to slash your way through the enemy ranks as swiftly as possible. Again, you should aim to prioritize your Proficiency Levels and Bonds with fellow Companions before setting out to tackle this objective.

Of course, you should aim to be as strategic as possible, if not by capturing bases along the necessary route, then by eliminating the Officers who stand between you and Cao Cao. If you can help it, aim to reach Cao Cao first, or after ensuring Lui Bei has resumed his march towards the escape point. If successful, you will of course unravel the Fate Altered message, which again, will grant you access to the True Ending for Shu. And that's it; all three True Endings for Dynasty Warriors Origins.
