Dispatch: Everything We Know

During the 2024 The Game Awards, as is the norm, several games were revealed to viewers worldwide. Dispatch has attained a great level of uproar among these games. The game aims to bring the workplace into your home screen. Not only will it be in a workplace setting, but the game promises to deliver each scene with much comedy and action to make each moment worthwhile.
What is Dispatch?
Dispatch is a superhero action, adventure, casual, indie, and strategy game currently under development by AdHoc Studio. The game was announced at the Game Awards on December 12, 2024, which saw Astro Bot win the GoY award. As a superhero game, Dispatch duos in as a comedy game starring Aaron Paul and Laura Bailey, who interestingly presented the game during the showcase. In general, the game is a comedy superhero game that revolves around workplace drama.
Dispatch Story
Dispatch hails from a superhero suit failure. The main character, Robert Robertson, has his mechanic suit destroyed by an enemy in a war. The suit once earned him the nickname Mecha Man, but since it is now in shambles, he remains the normal Robert he truly is.
In this game, players take the role of Robertson. After the destruction of his suit, rendering him helpless, he comes across what seems to be the hope he helplessly needs. He strikes a deal to work at a superhero dispatching unit as a dispatcher. In return, the team promises to repair his suit and restore his superhero status.
Gameplay
As a dispatcher, the mech man works in the dispatch unit, managing several ex-superheroes in their tasks. For him, it's all about picking the best choices to maintain a good work balance. Not only will he be assigning tasks to the superheroes, but he will also be training them to get back to the scene like they never left.
Each superhero is in bad shape and lacks work ethic or combat skills. It is, therefore, important for Robertson to make the best choices to avoid tripping any of these souls who have lost all hopes of glory. Mech man works as a dispatcher who manages the duty rosters. Additionally, he has to survive the workplace scene by striking healthy relationships. All this is in the hope of having a remake of his suit to bring him back into action on the frontline.
How it All Goes Down
Members of the community send in calls of distress. While at your workstation, you will study each emergency and deploy the most suitable superhero. Moreover, you need to know that each task has a wrong superhero. For instance, a muscular superhero won't make the best cat rescue personnel. As you strategize, ensure each choice will not cause excessive risks while aiming to receive the highest rewards possible.
In the workplace, Robertson has a list of decisions to foresee a smooth workflow. As he traverses the different sectors of the office, he needs to cultivate meaningful relationships. Be it friendships, romance, or mere colleagues, every interaction is important. Ultimately, how you interact with each superhero in the workplace will determine their behavior in battles.
Adding to all that, Robertson is responsible for pairing and grouping superheroes. To make this decision, he must find a way of ensuring that each team member works well with the rest. Sometimes, this becomes the most tedious task in the game. Most of these superheroes have a negative attitude, face anger management issues, or don't feel like it. In fact, these are some of the reasons they are in rehabilitation.
In addition to their varied power, an understanding of the superhero's attributes comes in handy in grouping and deployment. The relationship you create in the work office will help you control the superheroes in battle zones or group instances. Additionally, upgrading their skills and abilities also helps in superhero management.
Development in Dispatch
Dispatch does not need high-budget machines to work flawlessly. In a 64-bit PC with a 2.0GHz processor, 4GB RAM, and Nvidia GTX 970, the game will only take 25GB of your hard disk memory. The game is in its final development process by AdHoc Studio and plans to hit the markets under the production of AdHoc Studio.
The game features a list of known actors such as Aaron Paul from Breaking Bad, Laura Bailey from Last of Us II, Erin Yvette, who featured in Hades II, and MoistCr1TiKaL, who played Charles White. Additional superheroes include;
Jacksepticeye (Sonic Prime, River City Girls 1 & 2, Bendy and the Ink Machine)
Travis Willingham (The Legend of Vox Machina, Critical Role, Lego Avengers)
Alanah Pearce (V/H/S Beyond, Cyberpunk 2077, Gears 5)
Lance Cantstopolis (Karate, Dancing, Actor)
Joel Haver (Filmmaker, Actor, YouTuber)
THOT SQUAD (Musician: Pound Cake, Hoes Depressed)
Matthew Mercer (Critical Role, Overwatch, Resident Evil 6)
Jeffrey Wright (American Fiction, The Batman, Casino Royale)
Trailer
The game's trailer was showcased at 2024's The Game Awards in LA's Peacock Studios. The trailer kicks in with a replay of Robert Robertsons as mech man. The scene shows what led to the destruction of his suit. As the trailer delves deeper, the game unveils a rich array of superheroes who will be at your disposal when playing the game.
From the trailer, players get a sight of how messy and distraught the workplace looks. The superheroes seem disconnected, angry, and lifeless. It is up to you as the dispatcher to bring a balance and rehabilitate these superheroes while healing your own losses. Remember, the ultimate goal is to recover your suit and exact revenge.
