But you also want to consider placing the vacuums near wishing wells (fast travel points). That way, you can easily fast-travel to the well, pick up the resources harvested by ancient vacuums, and return to base.

The same goes for placing wishing wells near essential places like crafting and cooking stations. Or near resource-gathering spots. Where you place your home base matters, too, near wells, shops, stables, and so on.
