Chip 'n Clawz vs. The Brainioids: Everything We Know

We might be in the modern age of 2025. But nothing beats sharing the couch with your buddy and blasting off enemies together. Like Ratchet & Clank, but funkier and definitely looking like a great time, is the best way I can describe Chip ‘n Clawz vs. The Brainioids. The developers have a trailer out already and dare I say, it looks ravishing. Shall we see what’s on the table? Here’s an in-depth look at everything we know about Chip ‘n Clawz vs. The Brainioids so far.

What is Chip ‘n Clawz vs. The Brainioids?

Chip 'n Clawz vs. The Brainioids

Chip ‘n Clawz vs. The Brainioids is an upcoming action-strategy game. On the surface, it’ll have you and a friend gathering resources, building a fortified base, and commanding your growing army of bots to war. The trailer, though, opens up what to expect a lot more. The universe definitely ignites the senses with its vibrant and colorful tones.

Combat looks flashy and fun. Overall, we’re anticipating a pretty good time with your buddy on an otherwise lazy afternoon. While you gather Brainium, players will gradually set up their base from where they will grow an army of bots. When ready, you’ll command your army to war against the persistent Brains-in-Jars alien species.

You can either control Chip or Clawz solo or both characters alongside a buddy in couch co-op. Moreover, you can squish the aliens, which Steam’s description promises what I presume will be a satisfying alien brain ejection.

Story

Chip 'n Clawz vs. The Brainioids: Everything We Know

When the Brainoids alien species invade Earth, it falls on Chip and Clawz to defeat them. The alien species have stolen precious Brainium crystals stashed in their Grav Spheres. However, Chip, a young inventor, and Clawz, a robo-cat, step in with the ability to stop them in their tracks.

It’ll take skill and patience, though, having to take control of each of the Grav Spheres. To do so, you’re going to need all the help you can get. Eventually, you’ll clear out the Brainoids all the way up to their Mothership for the final showdown.

Gameplay

Chip ‘n Clawz vs. The Brainioids is, more specifically, a third-person action and real-time strategy game. It’ll be a heroic adventure packed with lots of adrenaline-fueled combat moments and an intriguing storyline. Let’s take a look at a more detailed breakdown of the gameplay features:

Action-Strategy Gameplay

  • At center stage are the Chip and Clawz duo, tasked with defeating the Brainoids across a series of challenging missions and an engaging story campaign.
  • The missions are pick-up-and-play, with fast-paced combat and easy-to-learn mechanics. While you’ll find some classic strategy inspirations, the overall gameplay takes a modern approach.
  • You’ll command an army of bots, equipping the best arsenal of weapons, vehicles, skills, buildings, and more.
  • Strategy will play a big role in combat as you assemble your army. Using the Command View, you’ll lead them in large-scale battles.
  • You’ll fight bosses of the Brainoids species who push your base defense and management skills to the limits.

Multiplayer Mode

  •  Chip ‘n Clawz vs. The Brainioids will not only be a single-player action-strategy game but also a PvP and co-op multiplayer game.
  • You’ll be able to access the game via two-player couch co-op mode, teaming up with a friend to defeat enemies.
  • However, you can play online, too, across 1v1 or 2v2 PvP modes. There’ll also be freedom to team up with a friend or try out split-screen 1v1 (exclusive of couch mode).
  • All online multiplayer modes will have cross-platform compatibility.

Comic Book Storytelling

  • Chip ‘n Clawz vs. The Brainioids’ universe is vibrant and colorful and uses a retro comic book style with a modern take.
  • Chip and Clawz will meet all sorts of Brainoid characters, each with unique stories.
  • The environment will also be intriguing because of its hidden collectibles and secrets. You’ll discover rare comic books that reveal hidden mysteries about the Brainoid invasion as well as blueprints to craft better weapons, abilities, and upgrades.

Developer Snapshot Games Inc. and publisher Arc Games are working together to bring Chip ‘n Clawz vs. The Brainioids to gaming platforms. Having been announced on February 20, 2025, the developing and publishing team is working on launching a Steam demo on February 24, 2025.

It’ll help draw a clearer picture of the current development stage as well as the potential for the final product. For reference, though, the creator Chip ‘n Clawz vs. The Brainioids has experience in other games like X-COM and Julian Gollop, which will likely inspire the mechanics of the upcoming game.

Trailer

Chip 'n Clawz vs. The Brainioids | Announcement Trailer

Check out Chip ‘n Clawz vs. The Brainioids’ announcement trailer right here. It’s quite the detailed first look at the upcoming game with both story and gameplay footage. While relatively brief, you get a glimpse of Chip and Clawz in action.

The Brainoids, too, seem like quite the menace sprawling in numbers. Explosions fly across the screen as you unleash flashy attacks. Although a lot is happening on the screen, it still appears clear. You can still follow your character’s moves and anticipate attacks.

Moreover, the environments are well-designed, with a variety of clever ways to use your surroundings to your advantage. Most of all, the visuals are inviting, depicting a world we cannot wait to jump into. Hopefully, the execution will all come together to achieve the immense potential the trailer portrays.
